Hi, Just thought I would introduce myself and a bit of a background. By the way I'm Aussie, which means kilograms and kilojoules, I'll try to convert.

My name is Emma, 22 and I'm what is considered morbidly obese, I have never been a "healthy" weight for as long as I can remember. I'm a massage therapist, doing an average of 7 hrs massage a day, 5 days, it's a very physical job, but I simply eat far too much, and exercise was never really something that was encouraged as a child, so I became a non exercising adult, with no real knowledge of what my body needs to function efficiently and healthily.

However being in the health industry (ironically enough) and meeting people with very healthy out looks, I have learnt allot since starting my career 3.5 yrs ago, however knowledge and action are two very different things. Despite my parents and extended family having health issues from obesity, cardiovascular disease, cholesterol, high blood pressure and most prominently diabetes, I took my youth as a sign of invincibility and never saw a real need too change, yes even I am shocked as I write this lol.

A few months ago I went to the doctor and was told that I may have a reproductive disorder, but in order to know for sure an operation was needed. But at 136 kg (approx 299 pounds) my weight would not allow me to have the surgery as a contraindication for the anaesthetic. Even though all my routine blood tests said I was healthy my weight was such a huge problem and this hit me hard and I knew I had to change.

Since July I have lost 5kg (11pounds), 2.5 (5.5 pounds) of that in the last 2.5 weeks. I started in july blindly with no real goals or plan, and fell off the wagon pretty quickly, but 3 weeks ago I joined the gym and had a few D&M's with my best friend and sister and decided I was going to do this right this time.

My overall outlook is to be fit and healthy and whatever weight loss comes with that is a bonus, however in order to keep me motivated and on track I have short term goals, rewards (non food rewards) and my gym keeps track of my progress on a monthly basis within which time I do not weigh myself, I refuse to become fixated on a number day to day, week to week, but every now and then to know that what I’m doing is working. I already feel and look better, my mood is also more stable and happier.

I'm going to stop now because even I'm having trouble getting through everything I just wrote. here are my stats and then I promise I’ll go away :gnorsi:

Age: 22
Gender: Female
Current weight: 131 kg (288 pounds)
Height: 169 cm (about 6'7''?)
BMI: About 45
Goal wieght: 80kg (176 pounds), but when I get there I will probably want to try to loss more.

Current plan: Counting my kilojoules intake and going from about 11000kj per day (2620 cal) to averaging 6500kj daily (1428cal) basically by eating like a normal human being. 30 min Circuit workout that incorporates strength training, 4-5 times a week, and generally doing more active things when I get board instead of eating and watching a DVD, it also helps my mood to get out of the house. I record everything and get a pretty glitter sticker everytime I workout :)

ok I'm done.

Miss M!
