im a serial yo-yo dieter

Hello, im Emma.
this is my first post in here.

since i was 13 i have gone up and down between a dress size 8 and 14 (USA 4 and 10)

i go for it in the gym and eating healthy for a few months ..... nearly get to how i wanna be body wise n then a go on a big binge for a few months and regain all the weight.

im 26 now and this has been going on far to long.... i just want to shape up and stay that way but i dont know why i find it so hard.
its even harder since i had my daughter to get the weight off....

at the moment my measurements 36/29/36 and i would love them to be maybe 34/25-26/34-35 .....
im not eating overly healthy just in moderation (if i eat really really healthy then i cant stick to it)
also i do 30 mins on a bike 4 times a week. also lots of brisk walking all through the week and i do 3 weights workouts a week aswell.
i weight 9 stone 11 pounds at the moment (havent got a clue what that is in pound) i would like to be 9 stone or just under 9 stone.

these last few pounds and last few inches are so hard to shift and its realyl starting to p**s me off now.

before i had my daughter i was a dancer and it is something i desperatly want to do again but i cant until i have sorted out the excess blubber

PLEASE HELP.

Hey!
Nice to see a UK lass around the forums.

How much time can you set aside for exercise?
Will you be goining a gym?

Have a look at the new comers link in my sig for info on weight loss

ummm well i have all evening but i can only stay at home (coz of my daughter) but i have my exercise bike and free weights.

as for day times ... there is a gym near me that has a creche and that will give me 2 hours extra 2-3 times a week but .....
this is gonna sound so stupid.... but i am too embaresd to go there until i have lost a little more weight becuase all the staff there know me as the one that goes religeously for a while n then stops n then re-appears months later.
so kinda wanna shape up a little b4 i go back

will check out the links.
thanks

You know what you have to do to reach your goal, you have already attained it before. Your problem is that you dont stay consistant. What I do is allow myself to eat out only once a week and usually eat whatever i want during the weekend. So during the week i eat a perfect diet + work out 6 days a week. Maybe if you give yourself the weekends to binge a little you wont freak out so much.

echoing what Derwyddon said...some people are naturally slender...others aren't, and they're the ones that have to be a little cleaner in their eating habits, a little more dedicated to regular exercise.

you shouldn't 'go on a diet'. your diet should simply be daily eating habits, and they should be good habits, like 5-6 smaller meals a day, unprocessed carbs, healthy fats, tons of veggies, and plenty of lean protein. the more a food resembles its original state, the better it is for you. so, oatmeal is better than bread, oranges are better than orange juice, a steak is better than hot dogs, and so forth.

figure out the dietary changes you need to make to your general eating habits, and what you think you can change for life. Eating take out 4 times a week isn't tolerable...once per week is doable. Limit sugar, bread, and other highly processed foods, and stick to whole, un/slightly processed items.

I've had similar experiences. Since having 2 kids, the weight is much slower to come off, plus time to workout is way harder to come by. (Back in my ignorant, pre-child days, I thought it was as simple as "making time" to work out - yeah right, try telling that to a toddler and a baby)

The previous posters are right about lifestyle vs diet (many diets are now calling themselves "lifestyles" but don't be fooled). Allowing yourself some cheating goes a long way to maintaining good habits, just be sure to set a clearly defined limit on it.
