I'm a neeby!

Hi all!I meant to say I am a newby. I have just started this amazing pill after YEARS of being overweight. I have always been the chunky kid since about 5. The time I graduated high school I was 270 pounds and of course, working at a fast food restaurant didn't help. After, I started college, began bartending-weird hours and many Mountain Dews later led to Diabetes type 2. I have denied being diabetic for at least the first 5 years. Then I ended up getting married and having a precious little girl that had sooooo many problems she was only here for 5 days. The good Lord gave me an angel, but I decided to enjoy food to replace the hurt. Skip 7 years to recently and I ended up with a thyroid problem. This is all taken care of now. However, because I was hyperactive thyroid when they fixed the problem I gained 25 pounds in a few weeks. I just had my checkup with my endocrinologist and she decided to try me on this. So far, I have the best energy, and I am in the best mood I have been in since I couldn't tell you when. I started on Friday and have already lost about 5 pounds. My sugars are in the best shape they have been in a long time. Woo hoo! Hope everyone else is doing great with this!

Whilst many of us on the forum do not approve of people taking "diet pills" - it is only right and proper for people with medical conditions to take medication to address their medical issues and level the playing field so that they can eat healthily and lose weight.

I am a PCOS lady and know how unfair weight loss can be!

I have friends that have struggled with thyroid conditions and know how disheartening it is when they do all the right things and get no reward for their efforts until they get the medication right.

It is fantastic that your endocrinologist has put you on some medication that is working for you and you are finally getting a good reward for your efforts. Continue eating healthily and being active (and taking the medication) and make your weight loss dreams come true.

I think that walking is a fantastic form of exercise - and I found that it did not have to be fast walking to be very effective when I was a big lady... I had read that it had to be fast (when I was big) and discounted it because I knew that I could not do anything quickly. For any big people - walking - even at a very slow speed - really helps your weight loss.

Celebrate your first five pounds by letting it encourage you to continue being good and losing more weight.
