im a mess...

i might have a good diet day with exercise and healthy eating, but every single time around dinner ill eat a smaller meal, then ill just feel like eating more after, usually i tell myself ill only have a couple pretzels but then i just think about another food i really like and eat that one right away, then once i finish that one i keep eating my other favorite meals, i literally eat about 2000 calories of bad greasy foods like tortilla chips with cheese sauce for instance, or today i ate a bagel with cheese on top...idk wat to try, its like i have nothin better to do to keep my mind off food, so i end up thinking about it more and more until i cant take it anymore...i guess thats my real problem, i dont have anything to do that i like enough to do for more than about 20-30 minutes at a time, leaving my plenty of time to think about the foods i miss eating...and this happens everyday, ive never held to a diet for more than the first 2/3 of the day...

You should see someone, its a mental problem, not a physical problem.
What do you do in your typical day?

You gotta want to lose weight more than you want to eat. If you carry on you'll prob die young of a painfull heart condition, you wont have done anything exiting, you wont have taken on any challenges, you will have sat, ate and got fat.

How does that make you feel?

How much do you weigh now?

i might have made it sound a little worse than it actually is..im 14 and 170, what i was trying to say is that thats not a healthy lifestyle at all and its almost impossible for me to stick to a diet plan for even a day...and doing this ill never lose the weight i want to lose...ive only been able to maintain it because i usually get regular exercise, but like i said before that usually only lasts for about 30 minutes at a time

At 14 years old... you need to speak with your parents or your guidance counselor or your gym teacher or your health teacher or another trusted adult. Get some hobbies so that your mind is occupied. If you cannot find hobbies, then make your hobby "researching healthy ways to lose weight." Become the next fitness and health expert :)

If you eat correctly, you should not feel hungry and binge. This is why I recommend you talk with an adult. Can you join a gym and speak to a trainer or nutritionist?

You can do this, but you have to find it within yourself.

"almost"

Your being way to negative. Rather than say its almost impossible, say...

"Im gonna stick to this diet plan, I'll need to put some hard work in to it."

If you dont do it, its cos your lazy and you dont want it. You the one eating all the food.

I'm wondering if maybe having a more satisfying dinner could go a long way towards helping you??

That, and don't keep junk food around. If you can't put your hands on it, your hands can't bring it to your mouth.

find other ways to occupy yourself. If there's nothing you like more than eating, then you haven't explored the world enough. You are too young to focus solely on food.

Well then. You know where to start.
It your parents job to look after you, its also yours. If there feeding you crap, then you gotta tell them.

When I lived at my parent's house I just told them not to buy junk type food. It goes along with the "out of sight, out of mind" saying. I couldn't totally expect them to give up junk food just because I wanted to, so I also suggested that they at least specifically didn't buy junk food that I'm partial to (Doritos, Oreos, etc;).

yea, im the same age and i've had the same problem. you just ahve to take control of yourself. that's what i had to do. now my parents have been on a health kick and it's alot easier to eat healthy, but you really have to want to lose weight for yourself and take control.

I used to have the same problem. Like you said when you start thinking about it you give in. You cant let yourself think about it soon as the thought pops into your head say NO be firm and think about something else. If you sit there and think about all the things you can eat you will ALWAYS end up talking yourself into it. You have to keep your mind off of food. Play games, watch tv, read books, study, do homework do something anything but dont let yourself think about the food. Train yourself to eat becuase you are hungry not becuase you are bored, or becuase it tastes good. The most important thing is not to cut back on all foods all together, but to cut back on only the unhealthy foods. Eat a lot of apples and oranges, bananas, strawberrys. Its better to gorge on fruit then it is anything else. I garantee your not going to wake up the next day and think gosh i feel bad for eating all those apples. It is not really a mental problem your having its just basic human instinct to want to eat. What you eat is always up to you, just dont let yourself talk yourself into eating just anything.

Junk food doesn't fill you up for long which is why after you've finished it it isn't long until you are wanting something else to eat.
Have you tried air popped popcorn it is only about 28 calories for a cup and is quite filling, I like it with a little garlic salt.
Find healthier versions of the food you enjoy and try not to focus on food too much. Once you have gone 3 or 4 weeks of eating healthy you won't want to go back to eating junk all the time as you will feel so much better.

I was in a similar position. It wasn't until I started working with a group of professionals that helped me straighten things out that the weight finally came off.

170 pounds at 14 along with what you are saying are your eating habits it a recipe for an unhealthy adulthood...along with battling weight for your whole life. Its time for you to start working with a professional.

Try this for a while?

A while back when I was a child less than now( meaning I had a child since the time I am talking about). I went on a " if I don't care about my apperance than who will, diet" .My husband loves me reguardless of weight or whatever. My point to you is this- dont put in your mouth the things that make you feel good, if they are there, pretend to eat them. This takes a while and disipline. It is mind over matter. If your brain thinks that you are eating, and at first its seems like you are actually teasing yourself, but I am telling you, if you try it, it might work. Take the food in your hand, just pretend you are in acting class- pretend to take a bite and then pretend you are chewing, then swallow. Try this a few times until you can really say no to the foods, because in all reality " you don't have to eat it and you don't have to be over weight!". And to hit on the exercising, that takes a drive - start out slow, like workout videos. A really good one, don't laugh, is Richard Simmons. This is terrific if you want to have fun and just to start out, or even try the Biggest Loser Videos. They seem to work. If you have these videos, the time is in your hands ;when you want to work out.
I have to say this right now, usaully when you first go to a gym, you look around and see that mostly everyone is in shape. You might feel that it intimidates you and not incourages you. If you do go to a gym, don't give up, because a majority of the people that are there are because they "maybe " were in your shoes! Not every Body is the same ,please remmeber that you are not going to wake up one day and be thin, it takes "real" time. Patience is the key, remember to breath!
Meditate, go for walks, try to be postive and really Listen to your Heart! :) Because you know what you want!

This may not be the best thing to do, but when I first start up a diet plan or am getting back into shape after a long time off..I give myself a cheat day or two a week on the diet. It has really helped me. Instead of saying "I can never eat this again", you can just tell yourself that in 3 or 6 days that you can indulge. Just dont binge on those days! Like I said, this isnt the best thing to do, but it has helped me. Im at the point now where Ill take a cheat day every 2 weeks or so, slowly weening myself off it.ha.

Yeah, I decided to limit my burger intake to one a week. Wasn't long before I was going weeks without a burger. Previously UNTHINKABLE!

Now when I do have a burger, I really concentrate on that burger, since I won't have another anytime soon. Savor, eat slowly, and drink water drink water drink water.
