Losing 10-15 pounds is very possible in a month and a half. Could take less than that or more than that, but it is a realistic goal.

Before we can help you, can you tell us what you typically eat during the day? Also, you say you are athletic which is good, but what kind of exercise and physical activities do you do precisely?

If you can tell us that, we can critique and add suggestions to help you lose those 10-15 pounds.

well in the morning i dont really eat anything because im in a rush for school ( i know that needs to change) for lunch i usually have a sandwich (turkey, letucce whole grain brown bread, mayo) a juice package, sometimes pretzels and maybe something sweet like a cookie for dinner i have what my parents make me it is usually indian food which is cooked vegies? i guess well it has a lot of oils sometimes and it is served with yogourt and brown flat pan bread u can say and after that i usually snack time to time
ive lost 15-25 pounds before but that was when i went to india and it was SO hot and i was sweating all the time and walking everywhere in the hot, and i looked goood with the few pounds off! but i gained it all back when i came back to canada

anyways i have now stopped drinking pop (is diet pop good? or is that a no no?) since it is winter i dont go outside cause of the snow and the extreme coldness

anyways the sports i do are flag football, badminton, basketball, longboard/skateboarding rollerblading... and in the summer i walk from school to home which is about 7-8km walk with a big heavy backpack :p

anyways im starting to do 25 minutes of running on the treadmill and 15 minutes situps and pushups (different variations)everyday drinking only water not snacking anymore have just the sandwich for lunch? and dinner well ill eat what my parents give me but choose the food with the less oil no other snacks and i think im set to go?

weight mass

If your that worried about it just stay away from foods with sugar...although its not as easy as it sounds since most foods that aren't oraganic have sugar, and also your not fat because of your weight it might just be your muscle mass. Also too much grain converts into sugar. You should try to eat more food but doing it healthy so soda is prabably the worst thing for you right now but of course diet soda is worse than regular.

I would suggest staying away from pop altogether (and juice for that matter). Drink only water, and drink lots of it.

Snacking isn't always a bad thing... it just depends what you're having as a snack. Avoid the chips, cookies, crackers, etc. Try to opt for a fruit or veggie with a bit of protein if you can. Try to decrease your portions at dinner if they are large and have a snack 2-3 hours after dinner. Think small meals but more often.

Eat breakfast! It seems like you already know that you should, so make sure that you start doing it. I can't emphasize just how important that is.

Stay as active as you can... try to gradually increase the amount of activity that you do each week.

Also, read up on some of the stickies and other threads like the Weight Loss Diary, you may get some good info there!

thanks guys!
today i had a banana for breakfast and for lunch i had veggies and dip and for dinner i had rice and lentil soup
is rice okay? im not too sure about that and ive been drinking lots of water and i still have to do my exercises !

Yay, breakfast! Good start!

Rice is fine in moderation. If you can, try to have brown rice and try to have long grain rather than short grain rice.

Hey iheartcheese (I heart cheese, too!),

How are things going? Still eating breakfast? :)

Hi kid! I'm 5'7.5, Indo-Canadian & I'm also trying to loose 10-15lbs : )

I know it's cold in Canada still but try to walk half an hour every day. AND before you eat dinner each night, have an apple or 2 big carrots or some broccoli or some other fibrous fruit/veggie - it'll fill you up & you won't want as much rice or curry.

Hey guys! Sorry for the late reply and yes I am eating breakfast and I've only lost about 5-6ish pounds and my fam says they see a difference in my face haha anyways just another few more pounds to go! And I think after those few pounds ill probably keep on going cause this isntreally hard anymore! Eating healthy is easy but it wasnt at first!!! :)

effective tips before going on a DIET

Today's installment of the diet plan is a dose of tips I've learned that make it a bit easier to eat less without feeling hungry. So, without further delay, here are my collected tips. Feel free to add your own in the comments.

Eat less. More often. Rather than eating large meals, chop up your eating into smaller portions throughout the day. I found myself eating 3 meals most days and having a snack around 3pm as well as another in the evening. That was enough to keep me from feeling hungry while still eating less in total.
Don't eat right before going to bed. I've read this numerous times and don't get why it works, but it does. I set a limit of 3 hours. So I planned to go to bed at midnight, I wouldn't eat past 9pm.
Brush your teeth early. For whatever reason, I won't eat when my teeth still feel clean. By brushing them several hours before bed, it was easier to accomplish #2.
Kick the sugar habit. If you drink sugared soft drinks (I used to be a Mt. Dew and Coke fan), replace them either with their diet counterparts or water. This can make a very, very big difference.
Eat vegetables before the main course. Whenever possible, I'd make sure to have an ample serving of a vegetable (you get very few calories for the amount you eat) before eating the denser main course--often a meat or fish. You'll need less of the dense stuff to be happy.
Update your spreadsheet daily. Keeping a running count will help you ration out the rest of your daily calorie allowance, which we'll talk about tomorrow.
Get used to leftovers. When you eat out, expect to take some of your meal home. If you eat standard restaurant portions, you'll almost certainly overeat.
Shop with calories in mind. When you're at the grocery store, spends some extra time reading the labels and nutritional information. You'll probably end up changing your shopping habits along the way. You'd be surprised by the how widely the calorie counts in various granola bars varies, for example.
Slow down! When you eat fast, you end up ingesting more food before you body has a chance to figure out that it's satisfied (not full).
Drink more water during the day. This is fairly generic advice, but definitely seems to help.
Trick yourself with gum. Sometimes we eat out of habit or because it just feels good to get some flavor in your mouth and chew for a while. Find yourself some sugar-free chewing gum and use it when the urge strikes.
Reduce the amount of breads, chips, crackers, and salty snacks you eat.

Hey, that's great... and I wouldn't say "only" 5-6 lbs, 5-6 lbs is a great achievement! Keep up the good work!
