Ideal Body?

I found this image while randomly surfing today and thought it was interesting. I have no idea where the "ideal" ratings come from, but I think it's probably pretty close to accurate.

Warning, the image is NSFW.

This is really interesting. And amusing too.

Interesting that the national average was as far away from the men's ideal as the women's ideal is - in the opposite direction.

I've seen that before....and personally, the only remotely attractive one was the size 16 (national average). That said, I'm in a size 20 right now (so only 2 sizes away from 16), and I don't look ANYWHERE near that. I'd say their size 16 is a 12 at best, so I'm not really convinced by the whole thing. *lol*

If I can ever make it to the 'national average', I'd be a happy bunny though....;)

I'm assuming size 2 would be a US size....because a UK size 2 would be....dunno....maximum of about 50 lbs or something....let me check for a size conversion chart.....

UK --- 4 6 8 10 12 14 16 18 20 22
USA -- 2 4 6 8 10 12 14 16 18 20

Ouch....a size 2 is still small....how did you manage to get into that?? :)

Yeah, that doesn't seem too far from truth. I know a lot of my guy friends don't like really skinny girls, and yet girls always think they have to be super thin. Same with breasts, girls always think guys want them bigger, but a lot of guys I know say "more than a handful is a waste".

I showed that pic to my hubby and he likes the smallest girl the best

I'm a size 7 or 9 but my tummy is a lot bigger than the size 16 girl

well I am only 5'2" and not built very wide at all... i was 153 pounds and wearing size 9-11 and now i am 125 wearing size 2.... strange.

anyways i just found that amusing. The best part is... im not a super skinny girl eiether.... i look healthy and right where i need to be.

I'm 5'4 and wear between a 10 and a 12 at 174 lbs.
I expect once I get to my goal weight, I'll wear a 6 and even a 4 in some brands - and I won't be at the accepted minimum healthy weight for my height, even then.

I think using sizing to judge by is hugely misleading because sizes vary so. Even right now I can wear a size 8 in some Eddie Bauer stuff, but I can barely squeeze into a 14 in Ann Taylor.

I don't think that photo is accurate, either. I wear a size 16 and I'm 205 lbs. Weird. Unless that woman is 6'5" or something because I'm 6'0.

I think the size 16 is the hottest! but yes she has to be really tall because that doesn't quite look like a size 16, I am an american size 11-12, which makes me about a UK 14 and I wish I looked like that! then again I am 5'2

anyway I've also met a lot of guys who aren't into really skinny girls- they like curves. the sad part is that wanting to have a supermodel next to you is more of a social thing- a guy thing. I don't mean all guys but many fall under the peer pressure and act around as if they wanted to bang hot, long, lean skinny models. the truth is many of them die to go out with a chubby little home town girl after all!

and I do agree that sizes are a tough thing to judge by because each brand makes their own judgment call when it comes to sizes. some clothing lines are just too narrow- even a large or a 14 wouldn't fit me in my dreams. in others they fit me like a charm- I can be a different size in every store I get into!

I've seen that a billion times.
If I looked as good as that woman does at size 16, I would never try to lose weight.

Well, I'm a guy (sort of) and, if I could be selfish and mold a "perfect" body for the woman of my dreams for a moment, it would look like this...

Kelly Clarkson is awesome.

I think all three of the women in the first picture have beautiful bodies. For me, the ideal body isnt about size, its about tone. Toned smooth skin is, to be honest, prettier to me than flabby stretch marked skin.

You can take two women who are the same clothing size, but if their breasts, stomachs, and butts are different you will get different reactions.
For example, my husband is a butt man. If I lost my butt, he'd probably have more issue with that than if I gained 30lbs. lol

Back to the picture though. All of those women have wonderful healthy bodies.

That really is an interesting photo, if it is factual.

I find clothing sizes to be extremely frustrating and misleading, as different brands seem to arbitrarily assign sizes. At 5'5" and 158 lbs, I currently fit skirts in my closet that are from size 2 to size 8. In pants right now I seem to fit size 6 to 12. !!! I know I should care about what I look like in something, rather than what the tag says. Maybe one day I will get to that healthy point where numbers are meaningless to me - on the scale and in my waistband. I am not there yet, but moving towards it.

Here's to health

My girlfriend is size 10 in some clothes, 8 in others, 6 in another and then some size 6 dont even fit her. She averages an 8 and thats perfect for me.

That's why I LOVE consignment so much. I get a kick out of buying clothing for what it looks like on, but never look at the size anymore. I've had woman give me the eye when I look at the large - extra large section's of consignment, or they say something, and I say Thank You for pointing that out to me, and continue looking at the section.

I am long, so a large or extra large top may have my length & sleeve length that I need. ;)

They're models so I imagine they are above 6 foot. Which is kind of a mis-representation of the sizes really!!!

Most Catalogue Model's are not 6' foot. They could be, definitely. But most are 5'5-anywhere.

These women are also airbrushed.

Whose National Average at that? The Uk as it stated? How many men and women were in the survey? That makes a HUGE difference. Maybe they were only able to tally 125 ppl's remarks, just an example. ;)

I can still see it as being true though, although I've met a lot of women & they SEEM to not like being plump *shrugs* Dunno really, but ppl are SO different and we all come in such wide ranges. :) To each their own really.

I am 6' and although it is a riot to fit into a size 0-2-4-6-8, it is also a riot as I mentioned above to fit into *Larger* sizes. Once you've worked in retail, you'll notice the HUGE difference in cloth sizing as Kara mentioned as well. :) Different Brands, Different Sizes. I also have fit into Children's Large, and why not? It's cheaper sometimes. :D :p
