Ideal body fat %

I have just worked out (on mybodycomp.com) that i have 18% body fat (ouch!!). I'm petty sure my abs arent too bad underneath because i can feel some muscular distinction when i put my hand to my stomach. I've started working regularly on my abs and would like to know what body fat % will i start to SEE definition in my abs. Any cardio related tips would be brilliant too. Thanks!!

12% is were I start seeing the underlying hard work I've done. As for cardio, try intervals of low to high intensity. For example, jog for 60 seconds and then run for 60 seconds or start slow on the bike and pick up the pace only to drop back and fluctuate repeatedly.

for me i didn't even start to see abs until around 10%bf.. here's an exercise that did wonders for my mid section.. sit on the ground with only your but touching, and your legs and back @ about 30 degree angles to the ground, and take a medicine ball and turn side to side touching the ground with the ball.. (i think i explained it right, ne Q's on the exercise just post em here)

above 20% is considered unhealthy from 20% to 12% is healthy below 12% is considered athletes body. im in mid 20's not unexpected for some one who is 280 to 270 pounds (weight goes up and down so much i just cant tell.)

How many reps/sets of the medicine ball excersise would you recomend (bearing in mind im new to this!). What cardio do you do and for how long / how frewuently?
Thanks

ok, heres the deal. i plan to run 2 miles every day after school for as long as it takes to get my body fat % down. I am 17, 150 lbs (ish), 16-17% bf and medium/small build. how long, if i keep this regime up, do you think it will be untill i can see some definition? (alongside the cardio(running), i am doing 2 sets of 15-20 crunches, 2 sets 15-20 push ups and 2 sets 15-20 sit ups 5x a week, and am eating a healthy diet mainly consisting of chicken, tuna, fresh fruit, vegetables and water to drink. any estimates are recieved gratefully! (i realise it will differ depending on the person but a rough guideline is all i'm after).
thanks!!

3 sets to failure(medicine ball).. and for cardio i run about 4 miles 2 times a week (not as much cardio as most people, but my goals are probably different then yours), but keep in mind if you wish to bulk, or remain bulky, you must eat before you run, not a lot, but enough so that your body does not begin to consume its own muscles for energy.. ne more Q's just post them here.

yeah. my main goal is to have decent, defined abs by mid august. I have plenty of time to do it. as i am not particularly bulky at the moment, would you suggest i eat high protein foods before cardio/muscular excersise? I wouldnt mind bulking up a bit!!
thanks

eat the protein right after or within an hour of working out that way your muscles are still warm and are abosorbing huge amounts of protein will also help stop catbolism
