well i am nearly 1 week into my diet i started it last monday but only actually got my scales working on friday..... my aim is to get down to 140 pounds.. i'll be honest at the moment i cant see it ever happening.. im curently 267 pounds.
i have tried to lose weight many times before and not managed it.
i know, i know. think possative, take it one day at a time... i will, but already one week in and im constantly hungry due to lack of junk food lol.
the boyfriend is not very supportive, he loves me just the way i am which is very lovely of him but, I dont love me.
i hate what i see in the mirror and know i have to change.
i guess i joined this site because i really need to make some friends who are going though the same thing i am and know how i feel, who dont mind me moaning when im hungry and want to quit and wont repsond with "here have some pizza, lol

if you feel the same and just need someone to support you when you want to quit, listen to you when you want to moan and celebrate when you lose some weight, then please post a reply to this, i would love to hear from you

Welcome here Icebunny! Your goal is definitely attainable....but it might help to break it down into smaller goals. Not so overwhelming. :)

You can do it and as I've learned, better sooner than later. Some tips:

*Your body is in detox---it's saying 'huh, wha? where's the sugar' but I promise you, you've made it through the first and hardest week... Keep up the good work!

*Keep a food diary to monitor what you're eating everyday. I know for me it was the amount of food that was the problem, it was the kind of food. A diet of soda, pasta, and chocolate was my problem. :)

*Don't rely on other people to help you with your diet...it'd be nice but ultimately you've got to find the motivation, determination, and will power from within.

* Make quitting not an option---set your mind to it, you will lose the weight--it will happen and then make it happen. There's no such thing as quit. If you want to be a skinny minny, just do it. I started out at 203.5 pounds and now I'm 157 and I'm telling you---all the hard work is totally worth it.

You can do it!!!

Hey icebunny! Welcome to the forum. I'm new too and really in almost the same situation. I know how you feel. But hopefully we can do it together! We can try to keep each other motivated!

Good Luck!

Sarah

hiya
thanks for your advice and encouragement everyone really nice of you.
and to the other 2 newbies will be good to go through this together. so on that note how did everyone do today? i did really well actually skipped breckfast due to it being sunday i had a lie in... for lunch a healthy salad sandwich and for tea a load of veg, with a bit of sausage cut up on top... im actually hungry now but am constantly hungry at the moment while my body adjusts. im not hungry enough to think about quiting which is good.
are you all ok?

welcome IceBunny. You've taken control & THAT is a step in the right direction. I believe that the Will & desire to lose weight is more important. Even if we slip off the wagon many times, climb right back.
Try not to make losing weight a priority. Instead focus on regular exercise and eating right. Let weight loss be a fall out of that This mantra has worked for me & I'm 22 pounds lighter:rolleyes:

All The Best

ok i soooo fell off the wagon:( 1 week in and it went out the window:(
yesterday my tea was the chip shop and i was eating sweet in the evening, my b/f runs a sweet stall and he sat there eating them and i couldnt resist.. i feel so guilty now:(

Don't feel guilty. Move on.

Our greatest glory consists not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall.

it happens... the wrong attitude to have is "well i already screwed up, so i might as well go out for pizza" The mindset ive adapted is to immediately get right back on track with the diet and add some extra excercise to help counteract slip.

There right..
Just pick yourself up and jump back on the wagon ...

I am losing around 1.5 to 2 pounds a week ... and I don't exersize much ...
I have been reading this book about food addicts and I am definitely a food addict ... but its actually working ..retraining my behavior and thought process ... and I went out for a 25 minute walk in a blizzard ..so kudos .. I think ..for me ..

now I weigh 291.2 pounds as of today ...

so you are much smaller than me .. if I can do it ..so can you ...

I will check in to this thread once in a while, see how you are doing

Cravings

I have a boyfriend too. If i dump him I would be thin. It is very hard to diet when someone always wants to eat out and take you to get ice cream. I have learned I have to feed him instead of him feeding me. I make him and myself a delicious smoothie every morning for breakfast. Just put in your favorite fruit, dannon light and fit yogurt 1/2 cup, apple juice (they are making diet juices now that are really good: 50 cal) and ice. If you have a sweet tooth, this would work. Also I love ice cream. Try a skinny cow sandwich bar (strawberry shortcake is goooooood!!) its only 140 cal.

I love pasta and pizza...I havent yet found a replacement for that. If you have any suggestions please let me know.

I also am still learning self control. I am trying to eat in moderation. I swear I could eat a whole pizza if you let me. But it will all go to my waist and I know it.

Wish me luck and I will give it back to you!!

Hey Icebunny...

Im a HUGE junk food eater...and like yourself I think I am detoxing. I have been doing this only a few days...fell off the wagon last night...and am feeling regretful about it today. I have never been into sweets and candy and ice cream...its all about the chips, dips, nachos, cheez its, you know...snacky stuff. Im here with ya...so we can all do this together!
