Hey, I am new :p

Anyway,

I used to weigh like 165 or so, but I can remember 170 more. I am a 23 year old male, I am about 5'10. I was always at 170 but still out of shape, just needed more work out and exercise, but I stopped, but I stayed around my weight. I recently for the past month or so, maybe more been eating a lot of fast food, from the glorious Big Mac, to the awesome Volcano Nachos from Taco Bell, it got to the point where I would basically rotate mcd and taco bell, maybe throw in the subway and wendys every so often. I only drink diet coke when im at these places, but at home, I drink the off product of crystal light which is wylers light, which taste just as good but has only 10 calories, no sugar, but of course it has that fake sugar which is prob bad for you anyway. Now I am up to 186, and I can't take this, I am forming extra fat on my sides, and lost that tight feel of my sides, and I my gut is bigger.

I couldn't take this anymore so today I went to walmart, and bought all types of healthy stuff like spinich, salad, apples, oranges, carrots, green pepper, some chicken, tuna, bought some almonds, plain oatmeal, green tea, eggs. Today I woke up, eat like 5 egg whites, and a little oatmeal, waited a bit, went for a 2.3 mile walk. Came home, did whatever, few hours later, I made a little chicken salad with all the stuff I bought. I then do a part-time labor job at UPS, which I do for like 3 to 4 hours and I swear a lot. I came home, had some tilapia and spinich, soon after, walked another 1.7 miles, and here I am now after a nice shower.

So, my question I guess is, by completely cutting out the all the fast food I been eating for the past 2 months, and continued doing what I did today, do you think I will start to see a quick drop in a few pounds? And how quick? I been drinking a lot of water. I at least feel cutting out all that fast food and junk, switching to what I did today, I should see something? Any help would be nice, or any further information or maybe other ideas of food I should buy, anything would help. Next saturday I go to NY on vacation, so I am trying to bang out a few pounds before then :p , I planned to start sooner but I am lazy but NOT NO MORE!!!

anyway, thanks a bunch!

edit: sorry about the title, I don't know why that happened :p I meant to say Hi guys :p

This sounds great. In the first week, as long as you lay off the salt, you should lose several pounds. After that it will be slow and steady, maybe 1 pound per week. Make sure your portion sizes do not creep up.

Indeed, I actually am doing 4.7 mile walks now. Takes me about a hour or so, and my shirt is usually full of sweat, I take frozen water with me that defrosts perfectly as I go to enjoy nice cold water. My food portions have been small since I started all this, like just about 2 hours ago, I had 1/2 cup of plain oat meal, I used milk, but half of what the container said to use to make the oatmeal more thick, and not watery. 1/2 cup of oatmeal seemed perfect, and then I did my 4.7 mile walk. I just got in, took a nice shower, and feel good. If I did say so, I would think I already knocked off a couple pounds cus something seems different, or maybe it's just my imagination.

I don't want to get on a scale yet, I wanna wait til the day b4 I leave for my vacation to see how much from 186 I dropped. Maybe by the end of next week since I just started maybe I will be 180, I am sure, I will drop to fairly where I was before it slows down because when I was around 170-175, it was really hard to lose weight, I was even going to the gym, doing a lot of cardio, but I guess it wasn't enough. But, I would think walking outside opposed to being in the AC will do more damage to my gut, but so far so good, and I am going to keep it up and see what happens.

Well, thought you all would like to know that I lost 3 pounds already, and now I am walking 9.4 miles a day instead of 4.7. I am doing 4.7 in the morning, and 4.7 at night. I did not walk yesterday so I just got in from a 7 mile walk. Took 1 Hour, and 40 Minutes. Tonight I will do 4.7 so I guess today will be 11.7 miles =D, but so far so good. I am eating the right things....well..I did have chinese last night but I was craving my sesame chicken but that is only once in a while, but so far my little program is working for me, and I am going to keep doing it.

great job man, just remember that once your reach your goal, don't stop working out completely or you might go back up.

I am in NY right now on vacation and the it's been raining for the 2 days im here already so I have not been able to jog or walk, as soon as it clears up, im going out, but until then, I am watching my intake so kind of even it out so I don't gain, but I should be ok, and when I get back home, im going to continue and start lifting weights.
