My first diary post

Im new to this forum, and basically Im here because I believe in the power of surrounding yourself with like minded people who are going after the same goal. Empowering each other along the way, and celebrating the successes of those who reached their goals.

Current status:
Weight: 104.5 kg
Goal: reach 88 kg

My plan includes

cutting off sugars, sweetners, sweet food (except fruits) , bakery, bread, anything with flour, limiting refined carbs,

exercising twice a day at least 20 min each time

Thats it,

I will reach this goal by September 1st and I will be posting my progress, thoughts, feeling, and whatever comes to my head here.

Put on your seatbelts.

Great to hear! Looking forward to hearing about your progress :)

Thanks everyone!

So at the moment Im only at two meals a day because Im fasting during Ramadan as a muslim.

The biggest challenge for me for me is bread. As a perosn who grew up in a middle eastern country where every meal virtually had bread on the table, I love bread.

Being at two meals a day, and not having bread in at least one of them and then fasting for over 16 hours, my brain is thinking that I will starve during the day and die.

But I choose to challenge that assumption, and I know how the brain could be drastically wrong.

Yesterday I ate bread in the prefasting meal, today I will not eat bread for the next 24 hours (aka 2 meals) and see what happens.

Welcome to the forum! Your plans sound sensible and healthy, although your goal loss speed is quite high to maintain for so long. It'shappened before though and I'll be happy to see you repeat it.

My lizard brain would probably agree... But thankfully we have a neocortex and can disagree with ourselves.

Hello, Mofa! Yes, you will! (do this :) )

Great to have you here, posting so we can all enjoy your triumphs as they come. I'm not sure what time of day it is with you, but have a good one!

Thank you all, it's pretty encouraging to see the engagements on this forum, and it definitely helps in keeping me going

I weighted this morning at 103.7, I don't believe I lost this much this fast, but maybe because the first time I weighted it was middle of the day after breakfast.

but anyhow I stopped bread, bakeries, sweet food and decreased red meat for +24 hrs now and feel pretty amazing and light weight.

I'm not feeling the chest pain that was accompanying me in the two days prior anymore.

I believe that in order to lose weight one has to be comfortable with the feeling of hunger everyday. It's a scary feeling and the brain keeps sending those red flags warning me of danger, but I try to comfort it by assuring myself that there is plenty of food available at all times and I will never go skin on skeleton from hunger. I will only go to healthy, fit, strong and ripped.

Anyway as you probably guessed I'm writing this as a personal diary journal and this is how I intend to keep it, so I'm trying to uncover my deepest thoughts here on why I have tried weight loss so many times but I always seem to bounce back.

That's it for this post, stay strong and powerful everyone!

Welcome, should have introduced myself sooner. Good to have you here!

I lost a lot of weight in my first week, I don't think that is uncommon. The important thing to know is that so long as you eat fewer calories than you burn you will lose fat, no questions. However weight varies a lot in the shorter term, mostly due to water content of your body but other things effect it too. I weigh often, it helps me understand those ups and downs. I only consider my first thing in the morning weight to be real, and even that varies a bit up and down day to day.

You are doing great! Keep it up!

Water weight or not: having a big scale drop at first is very motivating! Not having chest pains definitely is. Do you know where the pain was coming from? Just heartburn or something more serious?

That´s definitely one of the reasons why I find the diaries interesting: you can almost always pick up things in other diaries which I can apply to my own situation.

Hi, Mo. I think to get our bodies used to feeling hungry is a really good thing. Most people eat way too much anyway. I hope the weight-loss sticks for you. Maybe this would be good preparation for you to try the intermittent fasting way of eating. It works well for lots of people.

I've always found bread challenging too. I never felt properly satisfied until i had at least a slice at the end of a meal to finish things off. Now i rarely do that.

Good for you giving up some of those more challenging foods!

That's cheerful news for you, to have a weight loss first up! Yes, it's probably better to weigh same time, same clothes every time, to keep an accurate track, but in the meantime, that's a great way to start off! Go, you!

Bread - oh yes, and there are so many kinds of bread! Well done on giving up the bakery items of all sorts for a while, and I'm glad it's showing good results on and off the scale.
