HI Everyone,
This seems like a fantastic forum. Havent had a chance yet to read much or work out how to use it but im sure this site will become addictive. I finally feel at home finding somewhere with such great support and advice.

Ive been struggling with my weight/food issues for most of my life. (Im 30). Eating disorders when younger, then years of partying too hard. During the last 10 years i have yo yo'ed, ranging from 50kg up to 90kg. The last few years i have been very very inactive. (used to be a gym addict when younger).

But to the present now, im determined to lose weight and keep it off in a healthy NORMAL way (or as normal as i can LOL). Ive been a week now on my new health kick. Started off last week at 88kg, and am now at 85kg (187pounds). My aim was to lose 20kg (44pounds). Once at that weight i can re-evaluate if i need to lose a bit more.

My main problem is my metabolism and the fact that my body seems to remember years of starving/partying for days.. and can seem to survive on nothing at all. (Correct me please if you think this theory is wrong). I find it hard to get my head around feeding myself my daily recommended amount of calories to still lose weight, as i tend to find my calorie intake ends up quite minimal. So im hoping i will find some answers here, and get the support and right advice i need to do it right.

My other problem is my fitness. Im SOOO unfit. Also have dislocated my shoulder 3 times in the last year, so im terrified of doing it again if i get a weights program done for me at the gym. (Yes i do belong to a gym LOL even though i havent been going). But I AM going tommorrow, just for cardio. As im so unfit i will try and do 40 min.

So thats a long version of my introduction. Hope to make some friends here!!!!!!!!!!!!! Any replies would be great as im in dire need of some support for this journey...

Thanks heaps :seeya:

If you think your metabolism is messed up, you might consider taking your morning waking temp for a few days.

Kakutzi,

Welcome to the forum, this is a great place to be to get a lot of motivation and support.

You can do it...all it takes is consistency and before you know it the 44 pounds would have disappeared...

Steve,
How does taking your morning temperature help determine if your metabolism is messed up? I would want to know this too since I feel that with years of yo yo dieting I have messed up my

metabolism too all I have to do is smell food and I put on weight......
