I just ran the mile and another day i biked 5 miles. I am 250 and 6 foot tall. I was wondering that your measurements and times are for these events. The mile was ran on a treadmill, ill post my times once i see other results. The biking was on a stationary bike. Also what should i be able to do them in?

A little competition is a great motivator.:iagree:

I like to better my distance every time I use the elliptical or treadmill. At Thanksgiving I was 250+/- and got back into gym habits.
Now I'm 228 and making steady if not spectacular progress. Like you I'm 6'0"

I can manage 7.42 miles/60 minutes on the elliptical (L11) and the last time I treadmilled I could run @ 6mph for 30 minutes before having to walk/run in broken sections. I will be aiming to run 6mph for the full 60 minutes as a medium term goal.

I used to run track in school so am quite comfortable with running against the clock with mp3's for company.

I've been working on running a 5k for a while now (took some time off over the holidays - for a variety of reasons). Right now I can complete a 5k in about 45 mins, which isn't fast by any means. I'm hoping to get that closer to 30 mins this year.

5k = 3.1 miles.

As you can see by my ticker, I'm still over 300lbs ... not for long I hope!

I don't do treadmill yet, but I do the elliptical. My best time for a mile on the elliptical is 14:20. I'm not positive on my bike times, but I think 5 miles takes me somewhere around 20-22ish minutes.

I think if I were to try to run a mile on the treadmill, I'd probably be able to do it in 16:00 based on my elliptical results. However I don't plan on moving to the treadmill until I lose at least another 30lbs.

If it helps any, my best time on a track for a mile in high school (weighing around 245) was 12:50 ... I can't wait to get back to that!

Thanks guys, i am doing seven and a half minuets at the mile and 13 minuets on the bike for 5. I am hoping to start running longer distance

Today I did 7.52 miles/60 minutes. 7m58s/mile.

I've had some knee trouble so missed 10 days in the gym. I was relieved I was still able to better my distance.

Still obese according to my BMI but I've made steady progress over the last 2 months.
