I wanna become a PT

Next year I'm going to be a freshman at the University of Tampa majorring Exercise Science. When I get out of college I want to become a PT and/or dietitian.
I've only been working out for 8 months, but I have really gotten hooked, and now I want to keep myself in shape and help others achieve the physique of their dreams.

I want to become a very good PT, not one of the many bs fake PT's out there. In fact, I'd love to gain a big reputation as a very good PT and I would really like to help change people's lives so long as they listen. I was wonderring if there's anything I could do during my summer which could help towards becoming a good PT. Also what should I be doing in college while taking PT.

As for course selection, what should I really focus on in exercise science? There's so many different classes including sports management and marketing, selling in sports, coaching a team sport, coaching an individual sport, training an athlete, injury prevention, nutrition, weight training, first aid, medicine, pharmacy and so much more... the list just goes on and on, I'm really stuck as to what subjects to pick :D .

As skeptical and ironic as it sounds.
Become Bigger.
Look like a bodybuilder,
and as horrible as it sounds people will listen to you as a PT better.

I mean come on?
Who would you listen to first about PT?
Trey Brewer or Tiger Woods?

Just some food for thought.

Sincerely,
Wilhelm

Congrats on wanting to become a PT. Recommendations for the summer, continue to hit the gym, in this profession, I truly believe that looking the part is very beneficial. You will see alot of PT who look like they havent touched a weight since high school. Wilhelm gives a good example of The phenom and Tiger Woods, I mean who would you choose as a PT. So keep up the physique. As far as what to take in college. Choose courses that you would be interested in. I would highly recommend sports management and marketing. After all if you are going to be a PT, it is really about marketing yourself, and what you offer better than the next guy. Just remember, college is not the real world, anyone can take a boat load of classes, memorize books, and attend every lecture, but what does that prepare you for in the real world absolutely nothing. Most clients arent going to care if you now how cell respiration occurs, or what ATP stands for, or what the function of mitochondria is...........they are going to care if you can take them from point A to point B, ie how you can apply your PT to meet their goals. So just keep that in mind when choosing classes and again good luck to you!!!
