Hi all. I have spent the better part of my morning moping- The doc called me and told me I have a fatty liver. He said that it's fine and of course reduce alcohol and lose weight. Personally, the losing weight part is the one that worries me. I'm 24 next month, weigh 290 pounds (I was about 230 in 2006, 260 in 2007, and now almost 300lbs going into 2009... trend maybe?) I work from home doing customer service, not much movement happening for me in my average day. I have a gym membership to a great club, but recently I have been revamping my kitchen and repairing some cut floor joists in my house so my time has been taken away from the gym. Where do I start? I feel like I am standing in front of this enormous hill I need to climb. I want to lose weight now while I'm young and keep it off as well as be healthy for the rest of my (hopefully long) life.

Right now, like I mentioned before, I don't have a kitchen but I am working in full gear to get it back by Jan 1. I am going to enjoy my holidays without over doing it, then start this weight loss/life change effort guns blazing for 2009 (it's been one year cigarette free on 12.12.08 I can do this now right?!).

So if you were me what would you do? All I know is I need to keep full throughout my day- so maybe sticking with 4-5 "meals" per day will work for me? I don't know. What I do know is I am completely pissed off at myself for letting it come to this point BUT I am also thankful that I can better my situation with some hard work. I'm sorry if I wrote a novel here, I've just had a crummy day and I guess I need some positive light shed on the whole situation.

first off welcome :)
second, if you think this is a novel you should see mine :ack2:
third, its hard, but it gets easier. you've come to a great place for information and support which are the best assets you can have.
Don't worry if it seems like a big hill... we've all been at the bottom. the great news is if you decide your going over it you just have to put one foot infront of the other before you know it your at the top and it's all down hill from there... :waving:

welcome too the forums:)

how you feeling is natural, but remind yourself this. yes you do have a long journy ahead of you..getting and staying in shape is a lifelong lifestyle change..BUT..you know you want it and have made the first step by joining a place like this. knuckle down, do you best and reap the rewards:D
