Hi ya'll. Im TIffany and and am new. I know you all will think I am crazy, but I am a 22 yr old female, 5'4'', and 113 pounds. I have always been active with soccer, basketball, and volleyball, but since ive been in college (I DONT DRINK OR SMOKE) ive gained weight just from not playing sports so intensly. I occasionally run and walk fast, but I had surgery about 6 months ago on my shoulder (SLAP tear) and cant do alot of intense exercise. I know you guys are going to tell me not to lose weight and if I do, its unhealthy. BUt i want to tone up my belly and legs, back to my FIT body, and not just "there". What exercises would be the BEST to do in the next 2 weeks, I already knwo what to eat. Im pretty much a health freak (wheats, chicken, fiber, lean hamburger, brocolli, fruits, asparagus, egg whites, and brown rice make up my diet every day, i treat myself to dark chocolate veery once a while). But i need to know if i should just run run run? I cant do too uch weight training b/c im still recvoering from surgery and in therpy...any help would be great!!

What's happening in two weeks?

The problem is that weight isn't your problem, it's tone. Just like you said "I want to tone up....back to my FIT body" You can only do that with resistance training, which you say you are unable to do right now. Running and cardio will just put you at a negative energy balance, and your body will even eat muscle in order to find the energy to do the cardio. Then you'd be lighter but less fit.

If you're a health freak you wouldn't want to hurt your health by going underweight (which 105 would be for you). You were spot on when you said we'd tell you that going underweight is bad.

If fit is what you want, resistance training is what you'll have to do. And - warning - you may even put on weight when you start to tone.

So - my advice is to wait until your therapist says you can and start to do resistance training.

Llamabean is right! You can only tone your body with resistance, unless you are toning your abs, In which case you can do different sorts of exercises, crunches, lunges etc. Good luck!!

i would opt for low impact high calorie burning exercises. ie cycling or speed walking or swimming etc.
But yeah .. 8lb i 2 weeks? good luck :)

8 pounds in 2 weeks is what's unhealthy... even my doctor didn't like my 2 pounds per week loss.

Rule of thumb- Quick to come off will be quick to come back on...

ALSO, resistance is what will TONE. Running will cause loss, yes, but won't get rid of a flabby belly (it will if one was overweight). If you need to tone your belly, there's TONS of abdominal work you can do without hurting your shoulder. Crunches, lying on your back and slowly lifting and lowering your legs (keep them straight), pelvis lifting (legs in the air), or just plain squeezing abdominals for 10 counts, then holding for 10 sec at a time.

But 5'4" at 113 pounds? I hardly think you're flabby at all! I'd have to saw off my right leg to be 113 with how much I work out... And I'm 5'6". 129 is my "ideal" weight. 118 would be considered underweight for me.
