I NEED SELF MOTIVATION!!!

Hi, I'm a college student 5'9", 175lb.

I really want to get in shape, but don't really know how to. I don't have enough self motivation to go out and work out. I was wondering if anyone had good success stories using technology or services like weight watchers or daily burn. What do they do for you and keep you motivated to work on a daily basis?
If it's a website do you actually visit them? I feel like web apps could help so much better... I'm just all really new to this field and really want help in how ppl keep themselves motivated to go workout.

Also I don't really have a good workout plan. How do you get on one? For free?!?!

Thanks!!!

I lose weight by calorie counting - basically you need to eat less calories than you burn to lose weight. You can work out how many calories you burn online - its different for everyone depending on your weight, gender and level of physical activity.

For example, I burn a total of 1800 calories just having a desk job. I want to lose a pound a week (to lose a pound you need to eat 3500 calories less than you use over a period of time) - so I concentrate on making sure I am 500 calories under per day. If I ate 1300 calories a day, I could do this but I would feel like I was starving myself so I go to the gym. At the end of my workout my gym works out how many calories I have burned so I then know how much extra I can eat for that day. Its a bit fussy to work it all out at first but soon becomes second nature.

I use my fitness pal IPhone app to keep track of my calories - you can enter what you ate and how much exercise you did and it will work out your net calorie intake for the day (calories eaten minus calories burnt in the gym) - so as long as this is 1300 or under I am happy.

I also suggest watching your caloric intake. Cutting carbs down from sugars is also very effective. Read what you eat!

Calories are huge and yes you should count them but don't deprive yourself by eating 1 meal a day. It wont work, flat out. One thing to consider is eating lots of veggies by snacking on them throughout the day. A lot of them are considered "negative calorie foods" since they are low in calories, high in fiber. Your body burns the same amount of calories digesting a large meal as it does a small one, so eat plenty of times a day and eat low calorie foods. You will lose weight!

hi love.

What has worked best for me is realizing that I'm not broken. I love this quote - "Stop trying to "fix" yourself; you're NOT broken! You are perfectly imperfect and powerful beyond measure." - Steve Maraboli

After I realized this I just wanted to feel healthy. Not skinny and not "perfect" I stopped eating meat and dairy and started working out outside. I ran around the high school track, I did push ups, sit ups. I really did the basics. I've lost 20lbs already and feeling great. I still have 20 more lbs to go but right now I'm focusing on how I feel. I FEEL better about myself, and feel better health wise.

I hope this helps.
