Hi there,
Sorry i didnt know where to post this. I have been off and on with a gym for the past year or two mainly because ive been studing and flatting its been hard to go to the gym also when i only worked 2 days a week anyway enough excuses.

I have moved back home and although i do not know what im going to be doing now (moving away for a new job or whatnot) i want to try lose weight again.

I am roughly 105kgs which for me is huge i used to be 112kgs then i lost it 12kgs when i went to the gym.

I am currently looking at buying some equipment for myself but i don't know what to really get. I was thinking of buying a set of dumbells from 15kg upto 20 or 30+ if they even go that high plus a bench press.

I know that dumbells and bench will do my chest, arms and shoulders which is sweet. but i need something for my legs. im not interested in buying something thats hugely expensive but if it comes down to it then i guess i'll have to..

im just wondering what peoples thoughts are on this and what other equipment i might need or should get.

You probably don't want to hear this, but there is no alternative to good exercise equipment. I ABSOLUTELY HATE rickety stair machine, bikes, treadmills.. etc.
They aren't comfortable, and they aren't fun.
Have you ever noticed there's a HUGE difference in the gym machine vs. most home machines? most home machines really suck.
You don't need an industrial quality machine, but you really, really, really should NEVER EVER consider the bottom level machine. Go for a mid level machine at least.
A good quality machine will last much longer for one. And you will enjoy using it.
And second tip that I recommend to anyone is that put the machine in the middle of everything, possibly with a TV or stereo nearby. If you put it in the basement, where you don't go too often, it will be "out of sight, and out of mind" and probably become an expensive clothes rack.
and no matter what. TRY THE MACHINE IN THE STORE! make sure it comfortable for you. Try to operate the machine for at least 5 minutes on various settings.
I spent $900 on a tread mill 10 years ago and it works great, and still runs fine.
Sears has great service options, where they will do a once year maintenance for 5 or more years for a pretty reasonable price.
So...$100/year for a machine you'll use every day. Sounds like a good deal to me.
Better than $200 / month for a car that doesn't help your health!
good luck.

haha im not british either im a kiwi.

also my BMR is 2,271.70 which sounds horrible. can i ask what this means? is this the amount of calories im currently having at the moment in the 72 hour period ? or is it the amount im allowed to have in a 72 hr period?
