I need help losing Love Handles!!!

Hey im a 17 y/o male, around 6' to 6'1", haven't checked my weight in a while but i know it's around 180. Anyway what im wanting to do is rid myself of these blasted love handles, im in pretty good shape except for that section. I used to play basketball and since i quit i guess theyve just gotten bigger, my eating habits aren't too great either, up until recently i drank like 4 cokes a day and drank about 3 glasses of milk. Also i used to eat a lot of fast food and ate a lot of snack foods. Now that im trying to get rid of my love handles i have tried to eat as little as possible during the day and i have started walking/jogging for about 1 hour each day and doing crunches and sit ups. Does anyone know of a good surefire way to get rid of lovehandles?

there's only one "surefire" way to lose love handles - a clean diet, exercise and time. there are lot's of threads on here just like what you're asking, simply research the "fat loss" area of the forum and you'll get lot's of ideas. here's a few: DONT eat anymore fast food, sodas (do diet if you must), processed snacks like candy, cookies, cakes, bread, etc. eat things like lot's of fruit, veggies, salads (with low fat dressing), fish, whole grain cereals, & fat free milk. and large amounts of water, very important! also exercise portion control, even though something maybe low fat doesnt mean you can still eat a lot of it in one sitting. and keep up your jogging and exercise.
you'll be looking at months to lose the love handles, not days or weeks, though you'll see progress in a few weeks if you stick with it. remember, this is all about how badly you want to get a good body and be healthy. most people unfortunately lack the willpower to stop their unhealthy over-eating and consuming crap food, and therefore remain "pudgy" or fat. but it can be done, just gotta get out and "do it".

Could you give me a link to a good diet program because i cant really find one.[/QUOTE

Go get the book Eating for Life, it is awesome. But honestly just eat clean, like anything natural, no processed junk, spread these meals out over 6 times per day, every 3 hours. This revs the metabolism. Also do High intensity Interval Training on the track, this sheds fat quick. Do about 2-3 times per week. And weights are awesome. Do each body part about twice per week. Hope this helps. Oh and there is a section here on this forum about hight intensity training. Look into it on the main forum page.

I read about the HIIT and that's actually what i've been doing on the treadmill before i even read about it. Ill usually walk for 3 minutes then put it on max and run, over and over then towards the middle ill run for 10 minutes or so. I let myself down today i drank 2 sodas and ate like 4 pieces of pizza, last time that is going to happen though.

well here's a sample of what you might eat in a day, note that this is a 3 meal plan vs the 6 meals many people on here recommend. both will work.

breakfast: protein shake made from 10 oz water, 1 scoop whey protein powder (any flavor), a banana, maybe a strawberry or 2, a tbsp milled flax seed (available at supermarkets, walmart, online, etc). 2 tbsp whole oats (like quaker oats), a little splenda to sweeten, blend all ingredients together and drink.

lunch: 2 "egg beater" (egg substitute) omelet, with 2 slices whole wheat toast with spray on margerine. glass of fat free milk, glass of water. banana.

dinner: pan fried or grilled salmon or chicken (fried using spray oil like "pam"), steamed sweet potato, steamed green beans or other vegetable. large salad (mix of spinach, romaine lettuce, tomato slices, sliced carrots, etc) with fat free dressing.

snacks throughout the day: apples, oranges, carrots, whole wheat bread with natural peanut butter, fat free cottage cheese with fruit, unflavored yogurt with fruit, etc. also watch those portions and dont have all these items in one day.

this is just a sample, many other variations available. use your imagination but stick to natural foods, not tv dinners or fast food or pizza.

Thanks for the help, guess ill have to go out tomorrow and buy some fruits and stuff for my diet. Exercising has become routine after ive did it for one week, i probably need to step it up a bit though. Btw, eating pizza or something every once in a while like once a week isn't going to slow down my fat loss too much is it? Not saying im even going to eat junk food once every week just wondering how much of an impact it could actually have.

eating a bit of junk once in awhile is ok, but i has to be "once in awhile". also you'll see as you start eating better the desire to eat crap will become less and less. pizza itself doesnt have to be bad, BTW. it's just that people buy the wrong kinds (meat lovers, cheese stuffed crust, etc) and eat way too much of it.
so like you said go out tomarrow and get some of the things mentioned, also check out some of the other threads in the "fat loss" section of this site. you'll see many other good foods and techniques mentioned. it's all pretty simple, just changing to a clean diet and sticking to it will get rid of the fat - not just the abdomen area, but all over.

Depending on you're current wieght and condition, love handles come off last. I have lost 60 lbs in and the love handles just started to go now. It's been slow. The best thing for me seems to be kickboxing. There is something magical that takes place when you spin your torso and then lock it, impact and exhale. Good luck!

p.s. to my homies... August 8th I will be posting before and afters. Finally. It has been a long time coming. Thanks for the support. :D

the problem with soups, astro, is that they're really high in sodium (salt) and often calories. you wouldnt think a lot of salt would matter but it does. on a weight loss diet i would say avoid the soups, or eat them in moderation.
