I just want to wear shorts this summer

It's happening and I've been dreading this for a while. I'm a college student and I was completely content with the winter weather. I was bundled up. Didn't have to worry about looking fat. Everything was A-okay. Then it warmed up just a liiiiittle bit. And now everyone has broke out in shorts and tight shirts. I found myself wearing sweats and a hoodie, just to hide my rolls earlier today, even though it was silly-hot outside.

I've never liked my legs. I feel like my thighs are too big and my calves are too small so I've never worn shorts out in public. But it's really hard not to when everyone else is. I'd like to lose 12 pounds by the time summer rolls around but my main goal is about 30.

I wish I could say this was for the sake of good health but I'm just vain. I'm not even fat. I'm just not as small as I'd like to be. I want to wear a two piece for the first time in my life. And I want to wear shorts. And a tight shirt. I can't (don't) wear them because I don't want my back rolls to show. Anyways, I'm hoping to reach my long term goal by the end of the year. Wish me luck.

Hi Nyna,
It is not too bad and you can correct your shape easily if you follow some simple rules:
- Don’t eat a big amount of food per day
- Eat mostly vegetables and fruits and dairy products
- Drink plenty of plain water (at least 2,0 litres per day)
- Exclude from your ration bred, biscuits, cakes, sugar and soft drinks
- And, of course, you have to do any kind of exercise
It is in summary. More detailed information you find on particular websites.
Good luck,
Olga

- Don’t eat a big amount of food per day

No, it's not amount. It is all about calories. I can show you two meals of 600 calories where one is a item and the other is a nice sized, blanaced meal.

- Eat mostly vegetables and fruits and dairy products

No. You have to have a balance. Protein is pretty damn important.

- Drink plenty of plain water (at least 2,0 litres per day)

Disproven. If you are wondering about your hydration, check your pee. You want your urine to be clear to pale yellow. Darker than that means you need more fluids. This doesn't mean it has to be plain water. Just remember that liquid calories count too.

- Exclude from your ration bred, biscuits, cakes, sugar and soft drinks

Nope. Again, balance. You can eat anything you want. Moderation and control is the key.

- And, of course, you have to do any kind of exercise

Nope. You don't actually have to exercise. Yes, it's good but Diet is 80-90% of weight loss.

Also, know you can't control where the weight will come off. Your body is geneticly mapped to put weight on one way and remove it in the opposite way. That's why you hear people complain that no matter how much they lose, some body part was always fat. That's cause it was likely the first place it went.

Hi all! Im new to this forum and would like to tell my story. Ive been heavy since I was 14 years old. January 1st I was 305. Today, April 7th I am 257. Believe it or not, it's this simple: Max: 2000 calories a day, 60 oz. of water a day and 30 minutes of light excercise per day. I balance carbs and proteins and have now gone to all whole grain rice and breads. It's truly unbelievable....NEVER THOUGHT I COULD....my goal is 200 even for 6'2" 50 year old. Buy a scale and weight all foods and WRITE THINGS DOWN.

Awesome jcal1003!!

Great hearing people like yourself succeed at this.....such a motivation!

And if your regiment works for you....fantastic! Looks like you got it dialed in and are in the right direction!

Congrats!

You sound a lot like me. I feel my thighs are too fat too even though Im not really "fat". Id like to lose about 15 lbs and tone up (especially my legs) hopefully we both will have some success! GL!

Good luck Nyna! Whether you want to lose 15lbs or 200lbs, this should be a supportive environment for all of us. If you're really determined and ready to put the effor in, I think you'll be wearing shorts in a couple of months. Any time I have lost weight it has entailed counting calories/fat, writing EVERYTHING down and a decent amount of consistent excersize. It's just a matter of sticking to it. (I was like you in college and this was the way I lost 25lbs then.) Hope you are successful!
