What weight loss club, should i join to lose weight? That is the question most people ask themselves when they decide to lose weight.
Weight loss clubs, Weight Watchers/Jenny Craig/SlimmingWorld, are clubs that you have to pay to join and pay to be a member of on a weekly basis.
His business and are there to make money.
The main draw back is that you only meet once a week, have a chat and check your weight, and this is one of the key psychological barriers you will run into every week.
Weigh never advantageous week? Not really, as you know, when you can lose weight and your body will not lose weight consistently every week, so if you think you need to your diet stick, said weight loss, how to do the club and you only lose 1 pound of incredibly destructive to your mental well-being.
A lot of people diet hard, restrict intake of food, then after the magical weigh in go an have a blow out meal thinking they can recover by the next weigh in 7 days time.
It happens all the time and I have this guilty and.

Weight loss is all about a change of lifestyle and eating patterns.
You have to learn it as I am learning as you go.
You need the tools to change your lifestyle and help your body burn energy and this will lead to weight loss.
And weight loss will not be stable vary from week to week.

When you start to change your lifestyle you will sometimes see dramatic results quickly and then slowly your weight loss will slow down.
This is great and I will explain why.
Your body will burn fat stored by you when you start to change your eating habits and remove breads and sugars from your diet.
But soon your body will adapt to new foods you eat and use it to burn as energy source.

Changing your food intake will inform your body of changes that are happening.
No bread, no sugar force your body to burn stored fat to replace the lack of carbohydrates and sugar that give the bread.
This is one of the keys to losing weight.
you can eat lots of food is sufficient to serve the food that is good for you and not what you think your body wants to identify them.

When you join a weight loss club you become a client of theirs and they want to keep you for as long as they can while you pay them.
What you need is to accept you are overweight, like me, and you change your lifestyle not only what you eat.

I have accepted I am overweight and I am Fed Up Being Fat so I am changing my lifestyle. :)

Some of the best clubs you can join are right here!
You can join a monthly challenge club, you can join the "weigh yourself daily" club,
you can join the "what did you eat today club"
Or my favorite:
the "I worked out today, and I'm awesome" club.
Awesomeness is guaranteed after every workout!

Diet plan is the most important step, if you are looking at reducing the weight. But ensure you have sufficient calories in your meals.

Whatever you decide - you need to base your decision on your lifestyle, and the reason behind why you want to lose weight. How much weight do you have to lose?
I have recently lost 43lbs following a soy based protein diet = great nutrition educating your body - can let you have the details if you are interested.

[....] check their weights daily to keep healthy.

Not really. Checking your weight daily can actually be rather detrimental to weight loss, and make people obsessed with the numbers on the scale rather than what is really going on. Weight fluctuates, sometimes a lot, for various reasons, and a lot of people will panic, or even worse, get discouraged, if they see the number on the scale go up despite doing 'everything right'.

So no, weighing daily doesn't really do anything to keep people healthy. Oh, and neither does a 'diet plan'. A lifestyle change to healthier eating on the other hand can do miracles....

Making a plan is vital for weight loss

Making a plan is vital for weight loss. It is important that you make goals and stick to them in the long run. It is important to in the long run as losing weight is not a once off task. It is however a lifelong commitment that requires a big change in your lifestyle.

So true but so difficult...

I don't have to weigh daily. I like to weigh daily and its not at all detrimental to my weight loss program because i have learnt not to be dependent on a postive results. I can live with the ups and downs and that i think is key.

I also have started to think that seting a goal of trying to lose x amount by x restricted period of time is really problematic. Its important to allow more time than you need but not so much time that its meaningless.

When i started my journey this year i wanted to lose only 10kg and i gave myself the whole year. I think i will get there well before then. But this means i am not under pressure and i can cope with some ups and downs cause few diets go all the right way all the time.

I am in this for the long haul and so should we all. Setting yourself up for disappointment is a surefire way to fail.

Regarding the OP, I have come to hte point that i agree with you although i've never been in a paying diet club. That's why WW makes diet desserts. They know this will contribute to people failing. But the logic of their programs is such that you'd never blame it on the club.

The truth is that being thin is not easy. And you aren't going to get there by eating dessert every day. Especially if you add in a few treats and a few pizzas along the way. These treats undermine your self-control. They make it harder for you because you have to exercise your self-control constantly. A diet is al lot easier if you don't have to exercise self- control very often at all and the best way to do that is by not tempting yourself iwth an unsatisfying portion of food you really like and which is hits all your buttons.

That said, i know people also fail their diets when they try to ban foods they like. I believe the reasons for that are multifarious. some are 1) they restrict their calories too much, get hungry and get a craving for sweet foods which they head to or because of over restricted calories, when they have a sweet food, can' stop themselves because they are actually quite hungry.

2) EAt repetitive badly cooked food. Food that is not interesting or tasty. So they get bored and need ot break out

3) lose weight too fast

4) I've got to go and cook dinner now but htere are more possiblities. I haven't exhausted them by any means.

The main reason the vast majority of people fail is because of two things:
  1. They don't have a big enough, clear enough 'why'
  2. They focus on perfection, not progress

Why do you want to lose weight? Honestly. Are you sick of your significant other checking out other, trimmer bodies passing you by? Are you concerned about your health? Are you mad at yourself for gaining the weight? Again, figure out why you want to lose the weight - without lying to yourself.

Then, take that negative and turn it into a positive. If you're concerned about your health, turn it around and say, "I will look better, feel better and live longer, etc". Get detailed about it. Then, review both the negative and positive motivation every morning and every night.

Note: It's okay, and even preferable, to have multiple motivations.

Second, don't worry about being perfect! You will stumble once and while. The key is to not give up when you do. Focus on making daily progress and developing good habits. In other words, when you fall off the horse, get back on immediately!

This may seem over-simplistic, but it works. There are other tricks and tips you can find throughout this forum. Most are helpful - but these two are the biggies.

With a big enough 'Why' - you can accomplish anything.

Hi,

It is not strictly true when you say you have to give up bread and sugar. What you want to do is eat a healthy balanced diet, try spelt bread for instance; no bloating, just be sensible and have a couple of slices when you want them, it tastes great too :) As for sugar, you can have Stevia.
