Colon health - my favourite subject! Spent 8 weeks studying with a Consultant Gastroenterologist so I have a few tips for you to try which may make you feel better. He always used to say that water is the most important thing, so ensure you are drinking plenty, especially enough to compensate for all the sweating during your exercise.
The second thing is fibre - too little and you get constipated and bloaty, too much and you get the problem the other way - yucky! He personally hated any kind of laxative and recomended that you try and alter your diet before getting hooked on laxatives as they can permenantly slow down colon transit. Also going every 1-3 days is normal so don't worry if you haven't been for up to 3 days.
The important things to look for (this is really gross) is any blood or mucus in the poo which could mean you have an inflammatory bowel disease. If all is normal but you are bloated and crampy you may have irritable bowel which can be symptomatically treated by medications and cutting foods which cause the symptoms.
Thats all my words of wisdom for the moment. It may be worth visiting your doctor if you are concerned. Happy Colon Health!!
