I have a weight problem

i am a mother of 3. I just had my 3rd child and I weigh almost 230lbs. When I got pregnant this last time I only weighed around 155. Being this big is really depressing me and when I get depressed I eat. Eating comforts me. I stopped smoking also and when I get upset or frustrated I used to smoke, but now I eat. Its hard for me to get motivated to exercise. All of my life I have always had a weight problem. When I got pregnant with my first child I was in a size 5 and it kinda made me mad that I after my pregnancy I gained all my weight back and them some, thats how I felt after my 2nd child. But when my 2nd shild was about 3 or 4 I lost all the weight because of depression and the fact that I was working. I am now a house wife and I do not like myself right now. My 10 year-old son keeps calling me fat and I keep telling him to stop. I make fat jokes about myself to , well I guess so nobody will make them first.

Patience...

Motivation comes from within you - you need to find it within yourself to exercise... why do you want to lose weight? ask yourself that question and hold onto the reason.

Find yourself a new hobby to replace eating... it's great you stopped smoking, the future health of your chidlren is a good thing - find something to do instead of eating to comfort yourself.

have you discussed with your doctor your depression? if you havent, you need to immediately...
 
Right now I am breastfeeding my 3month old and I need to eat to keep up my milk. But the reason I want to lose weight is to feel good about myself. I always wanted to be skinny. I want my husband to look at me the way he looked at me when I was skinny. He says it doesn't matter that I am fat but I feel that it does. I have seen a doctor about my depression, I have been diagnosed with mood disorder bipolar. I am on zoloft for it.
 
What are you currently doing for exercise? What do you have at your disposal?

Breast feeding or not, you shouldn't cut your calories too low, how many calories are you currently taking in? and are you keeping track of them?
 
I'm not sure how many calories I am taking in. I just eat breakfast, lunch and dinner. I eat a small snack in between. But if I do get depressed I can eat all day. I used to walk almost every day, but it started to get to hot. Now I do stairs. I'm trying to back into my palates, but I can't get that motivated to get started. I don't know, I keep telling myself to get up and do it, but it doesn't work. I know how to get myself thin, but it's not really the heathly way to do it.
 
it's said it takes 28 days to build a habit... and you're not going to build a habit of exercising by sitting on the couch... only you can make yourself get up and do it

Put a calendar on the fridge and for each day you do exercise - then give yourself a gold star... for each 7 consecutive gold stars, give yourself a reward... non food is best but whatevet works for you.
 
you know I never thought of doing that. What do you do when you have a busy schedule? Do you skip that day or find a way to work it in? I don't want to sound stupid, but like I said before it was always losing weight the unhealthy way. I want to say THANK YOU, this really means alot to me.
 
you find time to brush your teeth and take a shower, generally, you can find the time to fit fitness into your day... Do the best you can - some days will slip but don't let days slip into weeks...

You do want to do this in healthy way -you want to set a good example for your children and be around for them for a long time...
 
Today is a good day. Instead of driving my kids to the bus stop, I decided to walk. I also decided to walk to get them.
Today I have a more positive outlook on my weight. It felt good walking. Now I must start my palaties back up
 
Lost Weight

On Friday as I was walking my kids home from the bus stop, my 10 year old son, the one that always calls me fat, said to me,"have you lost weight? It looks like you lost about 5 pounds." Indeed I have lost some weight. Yesterday I was standing in my frontroom and my husband said to me that it does look like I have lost weight. Some of my pants are gettimg baggy on me. YEA!!!!YEA!!! I really couldn't say how much weight I lost, because our scale is not accurate. I have the will to start back up palates. I feel really good about myself......
 
most excellent that the family is noticing - generally they're the l ast ones who notice because they see you every day... way to go!!
 
I lost weight

Finally I started to lose weight. I have lost 12 pounds so far. I have cut down my eating and started to eat salads. My only problem is water weight. I love to drink tea and no water, I am trying to drink more water but I love my tea. Plus if I don't have the caffine I will get a bad headache. I pray every day that the Lord will give the strength to exercise. I have been doing better about getting up and around. Hopefully I can continue to do so.

It's good to have a strong basis of faith, but only you can make the decision to better yourself and keep working at it. That strength of will has to come from within yourself. We know you can do it if you keep it up!

Thanks maverick. The reason I pray for strength it is not only physical, it is also mental. Just going through alot of emotional stuff so...... Well, I just got to find that strength inside to finish losing the rest of my weight.
