I HATE the new look of the forum!!!

What's with the new pics on the forum? I liked the look of things a lot better before. I don't like logging on here and seeing pics of women who look like they have never had a weight problem in their lives. Gosh - we see enough of that on TV and magazines, do we really have to see it on here, too?

I know we are all working to lose weight and get healthier, but pics of skinny chicks working out don't motivate me - they just kind of annoy me. I guess what I mean is, these types of images are what have kept many of us out of the gym, not motivated us to get in there! The women in these pics are what, size fours with polished, perfect bods??? Come on.

I know this is kind of an irritable post, but I just had kind of a bad reaction to coming onto this website where I feel comfortable, like I can be my fat self just working to get healthy - and then facing the exact same imagery that I face in everywhere else. And on the top of every page!!!

I hope if anyone else feels this way, maybe we can do something to get the forum back to its old look - without the skinny mini workout chicks in sport bras!
 
I agree. It looks like one big cheesie weightloss info/commercial that's on at 3 in the morning with girls that look airbrushed and fake. I liked the before pics of this site...
 
well, they are google ads... so i'm sure the ads are helping to cover cost of us being here... though I must admit, they are a bit distracting.
 
I'm not sure what ads y'all are seeing, becasue I have a feeling they are regional.. I keep seeing ads for the Boston Sports Club- and ads at the bottom for Sephora...

To be honest, I much prefer these than the other ads for the "scam" type diet products and other diet pills - the things that we preach against in this forum - popping up.

Yes the ads are annoying -but an ad with airbrushed females for a health club is infinitely preferable to the smaller Loose weight by hypnosis bs that we were getting :D

Other forums I've admin'd and moderated on, we generally only got money if the ads were clicked on-- since these ads are much bigger, I really hope it does defray the costs.. (and another forum that I moderate on - we are ad free and it costs a very pretty penny to keep it running every month)
 
I see nothing wrong with it~ you see skinny perfect girls like them everywhere anyways...

Let's all just get down to their size and think soemthinmg more possitive when we see girls like them~

There's nothing keeping us back from being their size and having toned muscles like them.. and when we do get closer to having bodies like they do~ we'd deserve them far more then they ever could~ and we have more strength then they do.. to be able to work ourselves up and accomplish something~

(if you disagree... then don't say nething~ it took me so long to get myself to think like this~ >.< )

you're all fighting to look like this, right? to have healthy, nice-looking bodies like they do~

actually, I don't mind the fact that they're images of girls. just that they're images. ^__^;; my computer is a bit slow and loading takes awhile. heh. I prefer the text-based ads that are less in ur face and my computer can load faster. ^_^;;
 
Just going to pop in for a second and mention something. Mal...I am seeing adds for diet pills still. They are right up with the other ones. Does anyone else see the diet pills one?

Anyway...I know we need to have adds to support the forum...kind of a necessary evil. Gives us the ability to be here. Does this forum really get support when an add is just clicked on?
 
it changes for me everytime I refresh.
Like right now I see a guy swimming, a woman looking at an apple, some sorta carrot salad and then a pic with fruits.

But before that I've seen girl in sports bra, people in-line skating, a person pinching their fat, someone weighing themself, someone working their biceps, diet pills and all that.

I'm pretty sure the ads help maintain the forum. everywhere I've been are like that.

Not hardly. This forum is full of real people trying to lose real weight. Kasumi Neko - I want to look like YOU, someone who lost weight and looks great, but still has some flaws - that is what is inspirational to me - not some air-brushed, size two women with barely an inch of skin to pinch who look like every celebrity with an eating disorder you might see in a magazine. There is something just wrong with that. Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think that is what we are all about here!

I am definitely used to seeing pictures of skinny chicks in sport bras - the media is full of them. But is that what I want to see when I log onto this site??? The site I visit for support when I am already having a bad day and my self-esteem is suffering? The site I visit when I am feeling ugly and fat and fighting the urge to eat chocolate because it is my TOM? The site I visit to be around people like me, who do NOT have perfect bodies, but are trying to get healthy? The answer is, NO!!!!

I don't think these pics are connected to advertisements. I think they are just someone's misguided idea of how to decorate the forum. And it is not comforting or supportive at all - at least not to me. :(

I agree, Twinmom!! Get those stock-footage bods OFF!! Or At least put them on the bottom so we don't have to wait for 50 years untill the whole site loads!! It boggs it down, and makes extra scrolling when it used to be unesecarry.. Not cool...
 
it provides money to run this forum, i think its a small price. and who cares, those girls prolly never enjoy themselves anyway, too busy dieting and excercising. so u ladies don't care ;)

He's right.....its a small price to pay to be able to enjoy a place like this for free:D
 
It is a little distracting... I don't have many super toned looking girls but I do have ads for weight loss pills and something called the weight loss patch. If it were that easy to lose weight I'd have those patches all over my body!!! :)
 
The pics I am talking about are NOT the advertisement bars. They are the rotation images that someone put on as decoration at the top of the page - right above the advertisements. They are and inch and a half of extra scrolling every time you access a page. They are extra loading time for everyone with a dial-up connection.

They are distracting, annoying, discouraging and unsupportive to many members including myself. I am very disappointed that we have to see them every single time we access this forum, and my desire to post here or to visit the site has dwindled since they were added to the format. I hope they are removed soon.

I know that these pics are not offensive to everyone, but about half of the responses so far have said that they ARE offensive to US. We are here to support one another. If the administration put up a bunch of pics of hot, buff guys, which made the men on the forum feel uncomfortable when they logged on, I would support you all the way in asking that they be removed. Especially if those pics were in no way revenue-generating - just like the ones we are talking about here!

Administration - PLEASE REMOVE THESE PICS!
 
I dislike the ads as well, not because of the chicks but because its those stupid "Loose 20kg in 30 days" bullshit which are blatent scams and keep other people from working out the truth.
And even those smart enough to know its a scam - its still so very tempting 'just in case'

Yes they are actually very negative ads and the scrolling is annoying. There are all kinds of people following all kinds of weight loss plans but the one thing that all of us agree on is that this forum is positive and we support each other in losing weight the healthy way.

These ads are here to support the free forum but come on. I rather see ads for gambling or locating your classmates or gag gift websites not ones that support unhealthy weight loss or just plain scams. Why can't the administrators get creative and do some shopping around for more positive ads. What about bargain shopping and clothings sites? Chubby people who lose weight need to get new clothes some how. What about plus size clothing websites?

The thing that is starting to annoy me is when I open a forum where we are seeking support for our journy's only to be slapped with a lose 41lbs in 60 days or the Diet Pill that Works fast. It's actually very insulting. I don't want to lose weight fast. I've done it sevar times before and it works initally but it usually involves starving and well just check out my ticker. I'm not thin. LOL . Ah but I digress!

As for the comment let's all get down to thier size? LOL! Sorry but I find that to be such a negative stereotypical and naive comment to make. I have a healthy weight in mind and I'm not going to feel better about flipping through a skinny mini magazine just becasue I am a skinni mini. When I was at my thinest which was 133 lbs I was a size 5/6 and I still was not comfortable in my skin. It's a mind set. Mental not physical. Assuming you are going to feel better about yourself when you are at your goal weight just because you are thin doesn't always happen. Take care of the mental part as you change the physical.

Sorry for the rant in your Journal Twinmom but I just had to get that off of my chest.

I really don't mean to offend anyone it's all just how I feel personally.
