Lbs. are great, and kilograms are fine by me, but when people start posting in stones, I get totally confused and usually I just avoid posting my thoughts all together, because I can't easily convert the weight in my head. I love you British, Scottish, Irish, Ozzie, and other Empire-ists to death, but I dislike your stones.
I'm sure there's a few colorful jokes in that last bit. :smilielol5:

(on a side note, WTF is there a biohazard container (for sharp things) in a public men's bathroom????, LOL)

14 lbs in a stone.

And I usually convert very roughly when going from lbs to kg: 2 lbs = 1 kg. not entirely correct, but close enough.

Look, I've grown up in Germany with kgs, moved the UK and suddenly there were stones, and then I came to this board where everybody was talking about lbs. Talk about confusing! ARGH!

Google is your friend btw. If you want a conversion, just put it in there, in the search box. Like 'xyz stone = ? lbs' , and it'll throw out the answer.

Now don't get me started on ml, ounces, inches, feet, cm and all that other nonsense....can't we all just get along? :Angel_anim:

I only do lbs and stones ... or lbs... But that takes some maths.

I don't work in kg at all.

Also, I second what BigLyn said. Sharps containers are useful for people with a number of conditions that require regular injections i.e. diabetes. I suspect they're also used by IV drug users.

Lbs / stone / kilo's

I find stone the simplest, followed by pounds and lastly metric (too cold)

Stone are convenient because it's a more manageable number to say I'm 13 stone rather than 182 lbs or 83Kg.

In the same way it's easiest to say I'm 6 foot tall rather than 1 meter 83 centimeters.

I also prefer fahrenheit too, despite having been educated as a scientist to quite a kigh level and used celsius or kelvin for years in practice and calculations.

At the very least, using American/Imperial/Metric sharpens up your mental arithmetic skills.

lately I've been referring to my weight in "Shamu's" ... 1 Shamu for feeling good, 2 Shamu's for feeling a little like I should be getting out there, and 3 Shamu's after a large dinner, a bottle of wine, and no exercise!

I don't wanna think how many Shamus I am ....

I'd be a lot of shamus on the weekend hehehe

I find metric the simplest, probably because I've grown up with it. But it's so orderly!

I've learnt to work in pounds... I don't want to work in stones!
