Sometimes I wonder how the fat gets there. Erg, does anyone have that same frustrated feeling? I'm kinda new at this soo.. sorry if I'm repeating some stuff. I've been trying to diet and everything was going okay until I started eating a lot of fruit (I decided to switch my diet cuz my brother loss a lot of weight on fruit)? I feel really fat in the mid section (not bloated, but FAT). please help!! What are the best exerises to kick the fat away?!? Thank You I HATE FAT!!

Welcome! Welcome! Welcome!

Fruit does not make you fat!!!!! I've seen someone else post that somewhere. No one will get fat if they eat a balanced diet of fruit, veggies, lean meats, complex carbs, and healthy fats. *AND* if Calories In doesn't exceed Calories Out.

You may be bloated in your tummy. Could be salt, could be lack of fiber, could be TOM. Could be extra weight from excess calories. Most women carry most of their excess weight in their bellies.

Time to evaluate the calories you are consuming each day. Write down everything you eat for a week. Don't cheat, write it all down. Then use the many tools and pieces of advice at this site to improve your eating.

It's not a diet, it's changing the way you eat. Don't deprive yourself. You can have anything in moderation. Someone else posted "progress, not perfection" is the key to long term success.

Good luck. You can do it.

i've been excerising three-four days a week.

i've been eating cereal (special K) in the morning. Lunch, I usually eat fruit and yogurt (2 peaches, and a banana), or a sandwhich. then dinner varies but i try to have a lot of veggies and some protein. thank you :)

also, how do you guys work out? to get motivated to get to the gym? I've been having some trouble going cuz of lack of motivation. do you guys suggest I up the times i hit the gym (i currently go about 3-4 time a week)?

Thank you!!

I have a hard time with motivation, too. I think if you stop looking at it as something to hate to do and something that you have to do, like brushing your teeth, that it makes it easier to do. I also take away all of my excuses so I have to go. I have a girls' night out thing tonight and I have to pass the gym to get there, so I'm leaving work early to go to a yoga class.

I would shoot for 3-5 times a week of cardio, 30 minutes a time and then slowly add in 2-3 30 minutes sessions of strength training. Most gyms have classes if you don't know what to do. I've also found out that hiring a personal trainer for about three sessions is enough to get educated and get focused. Could be some of the best money you've ever spent.

It doesn't sound like you are eating bad at all. I'm not sure what the problem would be. I do know that you can eat too much fruit. Fruit has a lot of sugar in it and although it's good sugar, it's still sugar. I also know that you can eat all healthy food and eat too much of it and gain weight. Portion control is key! What I suggest is to try to eat healthy (which it sounds like you are). Eat at least four times a day BUT eat small amounts. If I make a sandwhich for me I cut it in half and only eat half at a time. I save the other half for later in the day. I eat small amounts about every three hours and it has worked wonders for me. Granted, most all of the food I eat is healthy food, but I do eat some bad stuff, just not much of it and not often.

As far as the exercising goes, I am definetly not one to give advise.

Hey Welcome to the Forum!

Ok, let's try 8 steps to weight loss:

1. You have to really be serious about losing the weight.
2. You have to make yourself stick to your plan--even when it feels really good to just sit on the couch with a tub of ice cream.
3. You must have a clear plan for your exercise routine---and do it.
4. You must count the calories your are eating and make sure that you are between 1200-1500 calories a day. Try fitday.com, it's a big help.
5. Drink tons of water. When fat breaks down it exits the body through sweat and pee. If you don't drink enough it can't go anywhere.
6. Fast food is a huge cause of weight gain. Eliminate it from your diet.
7. Celebrate even the smallest amount of weight-loss.
8. Visit this forum a lot (especially when the craving monster hits!). The people here are really supportive and provide excellent motivation.
