I got to eat something!

I've only been on this program for about 2 weeks and i find myself almost searching for something that i can eat that wont effect my majorly calorie controlled diet that i am on.

The rules are we HAVE to drink 4litres of water minimum and ONLY eat what we are given.. 3 things a day. Now thats all very well.. but i want to physically eat something. :(

The shakes, soups and bars fill me up once i have had them.. but then i still feel peckish.. Id even munch on a bowl full of rice. I keep looking at products in shops (when i actually dare walk in) and look at the products.. assesing how many calories are in the food and thinking if i could 'get away' with it...

I know what my problem is.. i love to snack.. Snacking helps me going throughout the day. I know now that i was snacking on completely the wrong thing but i HAVE to eat something! Its emotionaly draining.. not being able to have what i want.

Not even a peice of celery.. Agh! There has to be something that i can get away with.. that wont effect my weight loss.. Id even munch on a raw carrot right now.. I have to find something that i can eat which wouldnt be seen as cheating. :(

What kind of diet are you on?? It sounds awful! Maybe you should do someting else. You (as in people in general) get on these diets that they hate and you get burned out quickly and end up binging. I'm on a 1200 - 1500 cal diet, and I love it!!! I can eat ANYTHING I want as long as its in that range.

If your primary concern is just having something to keep your mouth occupied (I'm the same way sometimes), try picking up some sugar-free gum to chew on throughout your day. It helps for some but not for others, but its at least worth a try.

That diet does sound horrible.A better way to boost your metabolism to burn fat would be to have 3 smaller meals and 2-3 snacks a day.Any type of plan that makes you feel like you're deprived isn't going to work in the long run.You should be able to have things like celery and carrots for snacks, you can't get more healthy than that. The whole process is about seeing whether or not it will work for you, and if it does, great. If it doesn't,just find something better suited to you.I wish you all the luck in the world,Pinky:)

Ive tried chewing gum.. we arent even really allowed it seeing as it leaves you hungry.. but my counciller told me that if i could get offer that hungry feeling then it was fine. But it just isnt the same really.. i miss the texture.. and the different tastes of food... nice and exciting flavours.

The diet is called Lighterlife.. Its basically a food replacement thing. I've written a post about it somewhere.. put the website address in it before realising we arent meant to. sorry! Anways... I had this wild idea a while ago that i should do a sponsered weight loss because it would motivate me to loose the weight that i have been trying to loose for years. And the fact that i have managed to raise over £500 for Motor Neurone Disease makes me feel really good.. because MND is what my grandad is dying from. Its basically because of him that im going through what i am now.

Now i wanted to make definatly sure that i would loose this weight.. so i looked into programs that would help me get through it, and would make me loose the weight that i have wanted to loose for years! (ive lost weight before but always either gave up or put all the weight back on.) Im not allowed to eat anything except what they give me.. and have water.. no alchohol. :( for a student.. drinking no alchohol at all its really hard! As you can see from my tracker i got a long way to go on this stupid thing. And ive noticed how my life used to revolve around food.. every social thing practically im surrounded by food. Its really hard! Sometimes i dont actually want it.. but other times i could really eat that cookie.

I think the only reason i havent given into eating bars and bars of chocolate is the fact that if i fail.. im going to looseing all that money for my grandad.. And i feel obliged to carry on seeing as he is SOO happy that i am doing something about my weight. In fact my whole family are.. They feel so proud of me.. but i got to eat something! Its like a horrible circle.. the only real satisfaction i get is on a tuesday when i get weighed and see that ive lost weight. :(

this diet sounds all wrong to me and also doesnt sound like it will lead to LASTING weight loss which is what you want right? i mean cmon, what diet doesnt even allow ZERO calorie foods like pickles?

Pickles have no calories in them??? *runs off to check*

Hang on.. when we say pickles what do we mean?

I got a jar here of 'whole pickled gherkins' and it tells me they have 34calories per 100gs.. which means each pickle has to have about.. 2or 3calories to them right?

Hi, I'm not sure what MND is, I'll have to go research that. Is your weight loss tied to MND somehow?? I think I missed a post. Good luck to you! When I need low/no cal foods, I never count the cals in pickles (by the time you chew them, you've burned the 2 or 3 calories that were in them). Mustard and lettuce fall into that category for me too. I also don't worry about the cals in cauliflower. By the time I chew a cup full of it, I've burned the cals. love, julia

Im bascically looseing weight 1) because i want to look better and 2) because im attempting to raise money for Motor Nuerone Disease which my grandad is suffering from. (Its a muscle wasting disease... currently there is no cure for it.)

Well.. so far i have got on my list: Celery, Lettuce and pickles which i could 'perhaps' get away with.

Now that i know that they have hardly any calories in it.. im finding it actually difficult to go ahead and cheat. haha Im screwed!

the pickles i was referring to were kosher dill spears. it says right on the label 0 calories. and i believe the food julia has mentioned falls under the category of "negative calorie foods". negative calorie foods are foods which use more calories to digest than the calories the foods actually contain. well except for mustard which has zero calories. carrots dipped in guldens brown mustard are a staple of mine!

here is a list of negative calorie foods: (may not be all inclusive)

watermelon
honeydew
canteloupe
asparagus
broccoli
beets
apples
grapefruit
cucumber
green beans
cauliflower
carrots
cranberries
oranges
lettuce
radishes
spinach
strawberries
tangerines
pineapples
onions
zuchini
rhubarb
clementines

All of the foods that wonderwoman listed are "safe foods" for me (ie...I don't stress about the calories of any). If I've hit my maximum number of allowed calories per day and I'm still hungry or just want to munch on something, I'll pick something from the list that WW mentioned. My favorites are: carrots dipped in guildens (same as WW!!!!), dill spears, cauliflower steamed with molly mcbutter, broccolli steamed with molly mccheese. Another snack that doesn't stress me out is air-popped popcorn with Pam spray and a tiny bit of salt. Very low cal, good fiber and satifies the munchies!!!!!! Love, J

heheh thanks guys for all this info.. Ill ask my counciller on tuesday if it is possible to eat them.. seeing as they are 0 calorie foods.. She will probably say no... seeing as the whole point of the program is that you abstaine from food. lol

But anways.. its good info to know for after my diet stops. :) i can eat as much as i like of those. hehe

I can't speak enough great things about the Weight Watchers Points Plan. I can still eat whatever I want, just as long as I stay within my daily and weekly points. Last week I had pizza and chocolate, and still lost 4 lbs. I lose an average of 3 lbs/week. I love it cause it's not like a diet.

You should look into it!

iwillgetthere,
You know I've heard alot about weightwatchers but I don't know THAT much, I know certain foods equal certain points, but is this just any type of pizza or certain pizzas that equal so many points??

Well it depends how many toppings, whether it's a thick or thin crust, and what size of a slice.

For example:

One-meat topping, deep dish 1/8 of a 12" pizza = 6 pts
One-meat topping, thin crust 1/8 of a 12" pizza = 5 pts

etc, etc...

Also, if I go out, I go to restaurants that post their nutritional values online. For example, last week I went to Boston Pizza. So, ahead of time, I visited and chose what I was going to eat before hand. helps to calculate points.

I just love it because I don't feel that I should give up things I like to eat and be miserable, in order to lose weight. This points plan just helps with monitoring calories and portion control. I highly reccomend it!
