Hey everyone,

Ive been on this site for a few years already and taking in great advice. I restarted my journey in September of 2010 and since then lost a good 30lbs. I just lost another 10 but somehow, I gained that back (might be water weight...cycle) I did the slow carb diet just to try it out. didnt really like it so I am following the abs diet, just doing small 6 meals a day of fruits, whole grains, protein and such. I work out everyday.....5 days out of the week, 4 days are full body strength. I also do cardio all 5 days, but one day I incoporate HIIT on the treadmill. Everyday I also do ten minutes of kettlebell swings and what not with my 30lb kettlebell. but I get so tired. I always take a lot of breaks. I want to have a good average of my heart rate, at least 160 during my entire duration of workouts....what can I do to push myself more? I get so tired and I stop during mid exercises. its annoying. I really want to push myself, I really want to get out of this plateau. Next month I am doing a new plan of workouts. Doing nothing but kettlebell workouts, yoga and pilates, just to see what happens. Then after that i am going to start p90x. I know I am not in the best of shape already but I am really trying. I almost feel like giving up. but i have been consistent since sept 2010. its the most I HAVE EVER BEEN CONSISTENT. what can I do?

=(

You might want to think about whether or not you're overtraining!

Now, that doesn't mean you give up - what it means is that your body can only take so much of a beating before it can't keep up any more. Instead of becoming more fit it just becomes more tired and actually less fit.

I would definitely drop the HIIT for now, consider taking a full week off from anything other than low intensity 'recovery' exercise that doesn't stress your body any more than walking and see how you feel in a week. You could also cut back to only 2 full body workouts a week for a short period of time, and then when you feel recovered ramp back up a little.

You may also want to make sure you're getting enough vitamin D, but if you've been doing this since September that's 6 months! I've heard a rule of thumb is to take a break or week off every 6 weeks.

You're not failing, you're doing awesome! So as long as you can take your break and then get right back on track you're actually doing great!

thanks for your help. im certainly frustrated. the weight I lost from the slow carb is back...im still stuck in the 260s. im just really frustrated and feel like i can never lose this weight. I'm going to take a couple of weeks off and just concentrate on my diet. I'm gonna make sure I am eating 1600 a day and once I start my workouts, eat 2000 a day again. I also noticed I wasn't counting my calories the past month so maybe thats why I wasn't losing much. Hopefully after my body recharges I can start my workouts again.

Yeah. I have the same problem about slacking off on calorie counting. :/ I'm slowly getting better, but my weight loss has a real habit of either stopping, or reverses itself if I go too long without tracking calories.

I think I managed to keep it going for a month with no counting ;) And getting my little pedometer has helped. One thing I keep trying to tell myself - the little things add up. Burning an extra 100 calories an hour for 5 hours.... is more than I'll burn with an hour of beating myself up on the treadmill!

Good luck on giving your body some rest! :)

If *I* were in your shoes:
Take a couple of days off, relax...do things you enjoy: ride a bike, take a nice walk, swim, dance. Stuff like that just to keep active.
Definitely count calories. It's amazing how a little here & there can add up and we can overlook it.
When you go back to working out alternate your cardio and weight days. You very well could be doing 'too much'.
Remember, it's not going to happen overnight. Sad, but true. I know I sure wish it would! But, this is life & anything positive you're doing will add up over time and you WILL lose. Just like those little treats or slip ups add up over time and the weight goes up.
Take a B Complex supplement. Eat MORE lean protein (chicken breast/Fish or shellfish/ non fat dairy/soy or whey).

IF none of this helps, see your doc.I was tired, tired, tired a few years ago with no real REASON for it. I mean BEYOND tired. turned out I had such low levels of B-12 I was pretty damn close to dying. I was told they'd never seen anyone walking around with the low levels I had. I had to take B-12 injections for a year. it sucked because I am needlephobic, but I can tell you I feel a hellofa lot better now. But, sadly, I have leftover side effects like memory problems, numbness & tingling in my hands, and balance problems. **If you have any of those symptoms go see the doc NOW!!
