Any other moms out there who gained A LOT like me? I gained 80lbs when I was pregnant with my son. I had him in February of this year and have been working out 5X a week and eating super healthy. Luckily its paying off. I have lost 50lbs already. My goal is to lose the rest [and than some] by October [my 24th BDay]

Also one thing im not sure if it will ever come back, but im working on it, is my stomach. I had a C-Section so my skin is lose and saggy. It isn't as saggy though as it was about 2 months ago. I have been running a lot and im assuming the running has been helping. I just hope some day I can step out in a Bikini again!

I gained 72 pounds!

I gained 72 pounds when I was pregnant with my daughter. I have lost 52 of it, but it has take me 15 months of half-hearted diet and exercise. Now, I'm serious. I have 20 pounds to get to my pre-baby weight, but I was 10-20 pounds (depending on what "ideal body weight" chart you're referring to)overweight to begin with. My goal is to lose all 40 of my extra pounds.
This is really mean, but I used to make fun of my sister because she gained 84 pounds when she was pregnant with my niece. Then, the same thing happened to me, and I was a lot more active than her. How the heck did that happen?

I gained 55 lbs with my first, and never lost it all before getting prego with my second. And surprisingly, I didn't gain as much weight (probably b/c I already weighed more to begin with:)). That is awesome that you have already made such amazing strides!! Keep up the good work. Your goal seems totally attainable.

(And as for the stomach... mine were both au naturale births, and I definitely still have a bit of extra flappage that I could stand to work on. No results to report in that dept yet).

Ugh, I just want someone to be like "Oh ya... give it about 5months and you'll have 6-pack abs!"... But... I know that would never happen lol. Isn't possible, unless of course im a celebrity. :coolgleamA: I've always wondered how them women go from getting huge ol' bellies, getting c-sections and than 6 weeks later prancing around with a 6-pack. Boggles my mind!

I read somewhere in the news a few weeks ago something Heidi Klum said; (not an exact quote, I'm just paraphrasing) "Women come up to me and ask me, will I look like you after my baby is born? I say, what did you look like before? You can't kid yourself." Being genetically gifted is a big part of some of those women's post-baby bodies, but most of them have to work hard at it, too. But we'd all look like that if if our career depended on being gorgeous, and we had a staff of personal trainers, chefs, housekeepers and nannies to help out. Somehow, that doesn't make any of us regular people feel better, though.

Ya thats true... but look at Jennifer Nicole Lee. She lost 70lbs after having 2 kids. She went on to become a fitness trainer, a model [like the MAXIM kind and fitness model] and miss Bikini America... I guess if you really want it [which I do] than its possible!

All right, I checked out Jennifer Nicole Lee (how can you be a devoted wife when you're in those kinds of pictures?...sorry. anyway...) and I remembered something from TTAPP (which is a kind of neat fitness program). The woman on there discussed body types and I think that might play into what you're talking about.

JNL's body has an extremely looonnnggg torso, which means her organs have lots of room to wander around in there without sticking out. If your body has a short torso...good luck!

I'm sure everybody knows somebody that went home from the hospital with their new baby, wearing their old size 2 jeans. (I am thinking of a particular girl that I know.) They eat just like every other junk-food loving American, never look at a dumbbell, and don't own a pair of running shoes. Ugh. How do you get so lucky?

A lot of people will say genes play a part in it all but than again I always call the B.S flag on that one. My mother was one of them "lucky" ones who put her size 6 jeans on after having me and my sister... blah....

wow, good for you! I just starting getting serious about excersizing and after spending weeks in the gym. I am turning to jogging! I REALLY hope this is the thing that sheds off the extra lbs!!!!

Congrats on losing that much weight!!! I have just joined and started getting serious about losing my baby weight. I have 63 pounds to lose. I gained 40 with this last pregnancy, but was 23 pounds overweight from being pregnant 2 years ago. I was still breastfeeding (weaning) when I got pregnant this last time. I am so ready to get back to my old self. I feel like I wasted so much time, not exercising or eating completely healthy while I was pregnant. I probably could have avoided gaining so much weight. But at least now I am committed to getting on track. My goal is to also work out 5x a week. I live right across the street from a track, so my exercise of choice is going to be jogging at first. I used to be in the military, so I think my body can get used to that again. I still have to remind myself not to go overboard. I don't want to get hurt. What are your running techniques? How far do you go, or did you start off with?

Congrats on making the step to getting healthy! :)

I was also in the Military and as you should know, running is a way of life in the Military lol. It all came back to me for the most part after having the baby. I did try running right away but I was literally [so heavy] it put a lot of pressure on my knee's and so I stopped running. For the first month into my program I was at the gym doing cardio [eliptical] and speed walking. I was building my muscles back up again. I had finally lost enough weight that wasn't putting a lot of stress on my knee's, to start running again. Running is all with how you breath. Do you remember how you ran in the Military? How you breathed when you ran? Just do what you did than and you should be good to go!

I do not think that statement is fair at all.

But what about the people that worked their butts off before they had babies, still continued to work out while pregnant and eat well, and returned easily to their pre-pregnancy weight.

I was one of them. My life is and has always been about taking excellent care of myself. I make it clear to people I meet in real life about the way I live. It is upsetting to think they might be under the impression that a "real" fit and healthy body just happens. It doesn't.

Shae- She didn’t mean the people like you. You worked out, continuously through pregnancy and were able to get right back to orig. size. She was talking about the women who don’t workout at all, do not eat healthy at all and yet get right back to orig. size after baby. Two totally different scenarios.

I was never lucky… I worked out, and had to workout even harder after the baby. I am still not down to orig. size…

Ok, I took it the wrong way.

But the thing is. Who cares? Really who cares if someone is skinny and eats crap food. I would always rather my health than the perfect body. But really you can pretty much have both if you are willing to sacrifice.

Those "skinny moms" that eat whatever they want. I guarantee they will suffer from health problems later in life. Anyone that eats junk food will. It is not natural.

Your health is always more important. So if means it taking more than a few months to get your body back, it's worth it if you are doing it the right way.

And lack of exercise will really get them later on--especially as they start losing muscle as they age. I don't think I know anyone who doesn't exercise that has aged well. And the people I know who do regularly exercise have aged pretty well. :)

I have a co-worker who never exercises, although she eats pretty well. She was very tiny to begin with, and gained 33 lbs with her recent pregnancy, and after about 2 months looked pretty much back to normal (although she said she wasn't quite there yet). She did not do any exercise post-partum, either. :cuss:

I'm 28wks preg and have gained 14lbs so far. I was overweight to begin with, though. I just hope that I can keep the gains to a minimum and take it off pretty quickly once baby arrives. Luckily Spring will have arrived by then and I can take the baby with me on walks to help in the exercise dept.
