I'm not talking about not getting rid of spammers steve, you know that. I'm referring to all the petty bickering thats been going on lately...its getting old....

I never did understand the 'sit here and debate a spammer all day" method...if he's a spammer, ban him, ya know? why waste your time on debates that won't ever really be solved?

My only refute to that is if you didn't know me, you'd consider me a spammer. I was actually hated on when I first joined this community. But my true intentions were made clear with time.

So maybe, as I said previously, this guy will prove me wrong. Probably not. But 1 out of 100 might be worth the while and really be an asset to the community. So banning spammers on the spot sucks.

Wasting 'breath' on them how we usually do probably isn't worth the while either... but I don't know how else to weed out the good from the bad.

With the 'blitz mentality' that I use and as presented in this thread... at least the spammer usually doesn't come back b/c a) they're afraid of words or b) they realize they're not going to be able to rip people off.

And sometimes it's just fun.
 
Oh, and if you have a better suggestion regarding a "method," I'm all ears Korrie. How do you propose we handle spammers?
 
my personal method is this...if they are obvious spammers...as in leaving links and such, yea, I ban them right away. This guy we're talking about..isn't an obvious spammer (IMO) no links...no "pm me for advice" ect. I mean, sure he was giving advice that we've heard before...but I personally woulnd't engage in a debate...i'd just ignore his 'run of the mill' threads and not challenge him on them....just b/c its old news to us, doesn't mean SOMEONE could learn from it.

now thats me though...i have 2 kids that keep me hopping and i'm a full time student...ect...I know you have things to do too...i just don't have time to debate people just on their ignorance of the forum, you know?

Korrie, there's no links because I've already removed them. I wouldn't be engaging him like this if he weren't an out and out spammer. His first post is a bunch of basic preaching to put himself in a position of authority. He also had a link to sell his book that he wrote, that I'm sure is miraculous.

Maybe now you understand?

Though, if it were you, I suppose you simply would have banned him. A no strike policy of sorts.
 
my apologies...i did not see that any links were deleted.....I've seen debates before though, in the past, similar to this...thats why I said something...my 'why can't we get along' was fairly innocent in my book...but i don't mind being asked about it.... yea, I mean, he's just here to spam his book then yea, why not ban him?? he's not interested in contributing to the forum...then go for it....but at the same time..there have been spammers in the past that leave links and I don't ban them...i've only banned 'serial spammers'....so i guess its a case by case thing...

Well, I appreciate your efforts Steve. You keep this place as free of spam as you can, which is really nice, especially since some of our members have been victims of photo-theft and whatnot.

Also, being someone who studies the human body to make an eventual living, there is nothing more skin-crawling to me than incorrect physiological information passed off as truth, which your stickies are free from. You know your stuff, to say the least.
