I currently weigh 280lbs. I really have no idea where to start or what to do. i did the atkins diet for a while but all of the weight of course came back. I just dont know what to eat how late is too late how much exercise i should be getting or anything like that. It seems when i do diet i dont have any food in the house thats good enough for me to eat so i dont get enough calories throughout my day then i end up eating a ton of food at nite (which is the worst time to eat) could someone just let me know what they did and what i should be doing?

Hey first I think your name is awesome lol. Second how old are you? Do you live with your parents or do you have control of what kind of food gets bought. Have you tried making a food journal and on the days you get really hungry at night look at what you ate during the day. Maybe try to be more even with your food intake. Are you counting calories or anythng like that? I just started losing weight and I found that it works best for me to eat a lot of small things through out the day instead of having 3 meals. That way I never really get hungry. Make sure you are drinking a lot of water because they say sometimes when you think your hungry its really just your thirsty. Welcome to the forum there are a lot of really great people around that can offer some good advice on what worked for them. Take a look at the stickied threads through out the forum they have a ton of info that should help you make some good choices.

You're from The Natty, huh? I grew up in Cleveland, so I hate your football team. :cuss:

Anyway, welcome to the forum. Somebody is going to say it eventually, so I'll just get it out of the way...

Dude I totally just said that. Way to steal my thunder.

BTW, welcome to the forum!!

I found it very helpful to keep track of the calories I was eating at a site online, there are also tools to help determine a calorie intake goal for the weight loss you are looking to achieve. I would start out doing 30-60 minutes of cardio as many days as you can and then start to incorporate some weight training when you are comfortable with it.

You've got to start somewhere, right?

Also, I wouldn't pay too much attention at the "time" you are eating foods, concentrate on what you are eating for now. :)

Thanks guys... To answer your questions im 23 years old.. I just dont know what to eat what not to eat thats my main problem... for a while i as just eating turkey on wheat bread and cereal in the morning... salads stuff like that... I can buy food from the store but have no idea what to look for...

Common sense will be your biggest tool. Before going shopping, plan your meals ahead. Eat lots of fish, low fat meats (chicken and turkey are great), lots of vegetables, etc. Then simply go shopping for what you need. You really don't have to be too strict to lose weight. Get used to reading nutritional labels, and use the DV% (daily value %) to your advantage. If one serving provides more than 20% of your fat or sugar intake, there's a good chance you shouldn't be eating it.
