I DID IT! 263-184 79lbs Lighter (YOU CAN TOO) Update new pics page 3 90lbs lost total

Hey everyone,

I have been lurking at this forum for quite a while now and I just wanted to say that you all have been added inspiration too me to stay motivated. I love the positive and supportive nature of the board and wish to be a part of it for a long time to come!

My name is Jesse and i'm 25... Here are my before and after pics from 6/1/08 and 6/2/09. Almost exactly one year later. The before pics are almost hard for me to look at. I never thought I was in such bad shape and don't know how those awful pics didn't get deleted immediately.

I feel so much better now, I'm in the best shape of my life! In the before pics i'm wearing XXL shirts and 40W shorts... In the after i'm wearing a 34W short and a medium shirt (A MEDIUM.... NEVER IN MY LIFE DID I THINK I WOULD EVER FIT INTO A MEDIUM... i haven't even boughten a large shirt since middle school)

If you have any questions or comments please please please don't hesitate. I'm really happy about this and so many other people have helped me along the way I want to do the same for anyone else that needs any extra motivation or inspiration.

Thanks for sharing your story! What kind of routine did you follow? Did you follow a specific diet with calorie counting or just eat well? What sort of exercise did you do?

Also how tall are you? I'm just wondering because in your befores you looked a lot like I did composition wise at the start of my journey, and I am trying to figure out how much I will need to end up losing.

Also did you have any stretch marks from gaining the weight? If so, did they start to fade as you lost?

Congratulations, and good on you for making such a great commitment to yourself. Very inspiring!

Good on you for getting to your goal.

Just in case you were thinking about it, dont spam any links to websites that helped you or pills etc :)

Thanks guys!

I didn't use any miracle pills or fad diet to loose the weight.

I did join a medical study through a local university in which we were asked to catalog our calories and then we were given a calorie range in which we were asked to not exceed.

I would recommend calorie journaling to anyone who wants to loose weight or even anyone in general.. It was so informative to see portion sizes and learn which foods were really calorie dense and which foods were really low in calories... I never would have thought but before I joined the study I would say i was consuming an average of 3,500 calories a day... Which makes me sick in retrospect. As far as specific diet... I didn't really adhere to anything super strict... just tried to have a light breakfast .. usually had a lean cuisine for lunch with a side of two of : fruit, yogurt, pudding, 100 calorie pack, applesauce etc... and whatever for dinner... tried to have fruits and veggies for snacks... and slow churned 1/2 the calorie ice cream as a treat.

I started doing a pretty cardio intense workout ... about 4 days of 70 minutes of cardio.. 40 minutes on a crossramp and 30 minutes jogging on the treadmill plus a 5th day of 2.5 hours of volleyball.

I'm at the point now where I want to adjust my workout... go to 60 minutes of cardio and a bit of weight training each of the four days...

Which brings me to the question about stretch marks...Unfortunately I didn't do much of any weight or strength training until just very recently and it kinda shows. I actually avoided the stretch marks pretty much.. i have some but the coloring on them is so close to my skin tone they are hardly if at all noticeable. The real problem is I have a significant amount of loose skin to deal with... I wonder if anyone else has overcome this issue?? Tips??

It's annoying but I feel it gives me something else to strive for... which is my next mission... toning up and getting more generally fit. I've had some people tell me the skin can't be tightened and the only way to fix it is surgery... but I don't think that's the case..

:party:HURRAY FOR YOU!!! Well done! The difference is phenomenal!

Best wishes as you now move to maintain your new healthy weight and lifestyle. Congratulations!

WOW!!! What a great job you have done :D I hope I can achieve the same in a years time!!!!

Well done you!

The skin will retract over the next couple of years, but will possibly never fully go back. Depends on your age and lots of other things. By all means, in my case, i'd rather have the skin than the fat!

Wow is all I can say! You are surely motivating me. I have so far to go but to see the difference every pound adds up. I will get there. Enjoy it, you deserve it. Great job and thanks for posting, I check back everyday to see any new posts of progress....this helped me today!

Building some muscle to take up some of the room left behind from the fat will help. Also I would try eating lots of skin friendly foods. Getting enough good fats will help your skins elasticity which I assume will help it retract over time.

Hmmmm what are skin friendly foods? I was actually just about to research that. Do you think there is a vitamin or supplement that might help? Also anyone know about the creams and lotions? Mederma etc.???

I would suggest researching it or asking a doctor/ dermatologist if possible. Milk and Coconut are both very good for the skin. I also heard that lemon is great for it too.

Wishes,

Do you think that doing a lot of ab exercises while maintaining cardio will make a difference on the loose skin?
Nope not at all. Nothing makes a difference to skin other than age, and luck pretty much.
You seem young so it should bounce back, but seriously, i know its painful, but wait a couple of years! I was gonna go for surgery (still am) but decided to wait the couple of years, and it has gone away a fair bit. Im 35 so I dont expect im gonna have the same ping back that somebody in their teens or 20s is gonna get.
Its really fairly dependant on how damaged the skin is (ie stretch marks etc also) amount other things. Lots of people will suggest things like diet and exercise, but the reality is that its pure luck of the draw. Nothing but time and surgery are going to help :)

Thanks so much for all the kind words guys! :) The eyes are my meal ticket (jk)

Now that i've gotten my weight around where I want it I really want to focus on other things... weight training... I've also thought about possibly trying a half marathon or at least a 10k.

I bought a running outfit yesterday (lol)

174.4 today... another 10lbs gone... i can barely believe it myself... I'm below my ultimate goal lol....

89 lbs... I feel like I'm dreaming :D
