Hello all :),

I am a 26 yr old female who is struggling with weight issues. I know I'm not overweight but I am not happy at the weight that I am. I am 5ft 140lbs. I was on a low carb diet but you know how that goes once you introduce carbs back.

I definitely know that my main issue is over eating. I am not too big on sweets, but I can eat and I try to eat everything on my plate if I could. Growing up, my family made us eat all of our food before we could leave the table so now it is installed in me to eat my food and not waste it.

I am not a fan of exercising. I just feel like I dont know what I'm doing. I love things like step classes and yoga but I know I need to actually run and get the heart beating fast.

I just really need a buddy and some encouragement...thanks to those who read.

Welcome to the forum! I hope you find it helpful. I was wondering, I know you said you aren't over weight, so what are your goals here? :)

Feel free to check out the stickies, they are very helpful.

Hi Stacy,
Well my goal is to lose about 20-25lbs. I know it dont seem like a lot compared to what a lot of people are trying to lose but it is oh so hard! I just hate that I have to sit down and write everything that I put in my mouth. I eat a lot of fruits and veggies... I'm not sure whats going on.

Enough about me, how are things working for you? 33lbs of weight loss is outstanding. Keep up the great job!!

Welcome to the site. You're right weight loss is extremly hard. Dont let anyone tell you otherwise. It doesnt matter how much you want to lose.

What do you hate about writing everything down? Do you hate to see the amounts you are eating or hong much time and effort.

Writing my food journal was very benificial to me. It could also be the reason I put on weight since I stopped tracking.

Stacy is right, read the stickies and learn what it takes to lose weight.

Good luck and let us know how things are going.

Yeah, I know it's a pain in the bottom to write down everything you eat, but when you first start out in your weight loss journey it's one of the most important steps you can take to help you on lose weight. It may seem silly, or even tiresome, but it helps SO MUCH. I adopted the idea that - "If you bite it, write it". And that has shown me every place within my daily diet that I need to work on. You can't imagine exactly how much you're actually eating every day until you write it all down. Keeping a food diary will let you know exactly "whats going on".

Thanks for the well wishes! Yeah, 33 pounds is a big deal for me, I have lost that amount in less than 3 months. But then I think of how far I still need to go ...wow! lol Oh well, I'm in this for the long haul - for life! It's not a diet it's a total lifestyle change. :D

I wish you luck on your journey! If you have any questions feel free to ask.

Hi, bklynfinest! I'm 26 as well and I'm in California. I used to live in New York several years ago, it's where I grew up. Anyhow, I know how you feel, weight loss is hard. What has helped me is to only have a small snack in the nighttime and not eat after 7 pm at all. So dinner at around 5 and a small snack at 7, and after that chew some sugar free gum and drink water/crystal light/calorie free beverage. Also, make sure you sleep 8-9 hours per night. Loss of sleep BY ITSELF can cause you to gain weight. I did a test on myself. I ate whatever I wanted, at any time I wanted (even late at night) and i slept 8 hours each night. Also I did not exercise. I gained no weight for 8 days. On the 9th day I gained like 1 pound. Sleep is so important, a lot of people sleep on it (ha ha). I just started doing Lindora to help lose weight, and so far i have lost 13lbs. But I cannot stand the nurses...they talk down to you like you are a little kid and I have even been accused of lying in my daily journal...i was like wtf? So I decided to leave those bitches alone. That's why I joined this forum.

Anyhow, back to you. Don't get too overwhelmed. Just try to get your sleep and cease all major eating after 5 pm and all eating after 7 pm, if you can get a buddy to keep you accountable, you WILL see results. Also, 30 min of aerobic exercise 1x per day, whether that may be Jazzercise, running, etc. I think exercising in the evening is the most effective, but some people like fitting it in before work better.
