Hello to anyone out there who is willing to help me and support me through my journey to a new me. I need to lose an astonomical amount of weight and I am finding I cannot do it alone. I am a binge eater and a mindless eater. I eat out of boredom or just laziness. I need help finding out why I have these little voices in my ears that tell me I am starving for chips and dip when I ate only an hour before. If you think you are the person to help me you will be the one I want to have around. Thanks in advance to those who reply.

I've learned through research and my own weight loss experiences (70lbs lost one time and 35lbs lost another) that the doctors are right.

Cutting out the sugar filled drinks and alcohol (if you drink alcohol) and drinking water instead or at least low calorie sugar free drinks instead (if you can't take the blandness of water) greatly decreases the desire to eat.

As it turns out the mechanism within us that tells us we better drink something is right next to the mechanism within us that tells us we better eat something and more often than not we mistake our thirst for hunger.

So while I may not be able to give you a full plan to lose all the weight you need to (as everyone's needs are different) I think I can give you an idea of what to start with and that is...

When you get that urge to eat more than you should drink a glass of water or a low calorie sugar free drink instead and wait 10 minutes and your desire to eat should be gone.

If it isn't then just grit your teeth and keep at it for two weeks not overeating but drinking the drinks instead and it should start to work as I've also read somewhere that when overweight people begin to eat right ie eat less it takes about two weeks for the stomache to shrink back down to normal proportions.

Obviously it being stretched out would be why you'd still be hungry even after doing the drinking thing as your stomache had been trained to be ready to accept a lot of food.

Well I hope this helps a little even though I kind of rambled on there.

I see you're in the middle of a storm right now, clean your eyes from the rain and look at the horizon: can you see it? The sunshine right there waiting for you? And an incredible journey to get there?
The first step is coming out from the storm you're in, so negative feelings... Sit, breathe and think about a plan, a good one, read a lot, there's a lot of good tips in this forum, slowly you'll become calm and confident. Then put all your energy in this journey with us, you're not alone! You can do it!
This journey is beautiful, it's not about the sunshine on the horizon, is about you and all the things you'll live and learn while you're walking, it's a really good thing. So... don't be mad anymore, life is a beautiful thing!
You have to change your mind before you change your body, your body will do whatever your mind wants it to do, your body is not agaisnt you, you're against your body, so stop doing it! Stop harming it! Love it! Love it with all your strength! Help it!
When you make the first step, you become a new person... So make the step, become the person you want you to be and never look behind.
We're here to help you getting up whenever you fall, so dont be afraid, believe in yourself *

If you're not quite ready to start a restricted eating plan yet, here's something you can try.
Instead of reaching for fattening foods like chips and dip you could cut up a couple of apples and munch on them. Or how about stocking up on celery and carrots and keeping them in your fridge. You can still eat whenever you get the munchies, just pick healthy foods like vegetables and fruit.

You will lose weight if your diet consists mostly of fruits and vegetables and you can eat all you want! Now isn't that good news! :jump:

Hi!

I just started a few days ago myself. It seems like I start EVERYDAY and end EVERYDAY...but this time I have promised myself it will be different, and i never break promises!!

I have a zero loss right now cuz i just started but I am going to stick with it...I have read the Biggest Loser book, Signed on Here and i am going to LEARN how to face my challenges like how to eat when i dont have the right grocerys in the house, or what to do when i go to my moms and she is GUILTING me into eating.....etc

so i think that maybe if we journal and stay positive and realistic we can both be winners...

what do you say???

I'm a real chip lover too....what I've done is substitute white cheddar rice cakes. break a couple up, they're only 40 calories each.

if you're eating out of boredom, maybe take up a new hobby, or when you feel yourself getting bored, go for a walk around the block.

start keeping a record of what your eating, then start making small changes. do things gradually, you don't need to rush into it.

having a couple of people around, and this board for support is really great.

good luck with everything, coming here is a step in the right direction itself.

Realization of what you know you are doing to facilitate gaining weight goes a long way toward losing it. Take what you are doing to gain weight and stop doing it. You will lose automatically.
