I am a newbie!

Hello, I am new here and I would like to introduce myself. I am female, 35, married with 2 children. They are 16 and 12. I weighed 312 lbs. 2 weeks ago. I started my diet and fitness plan then and I have lost 12 lbs. I am now at 300.2 lbs.

I have been overweight for most of my life. Food has always been my comfort and my friend. At first it was my comforter for whatever ailment I had. Then it became an award thing, and of course food for celebration. This has led to being morbidly obese. That is what the doctor called it.

I am so tired of trying and failing! I want this to be the last attempt and I want it to be successful! I am doing well so far, most of my diets/weightloss efforts have ended at around day 5.

Congratulations on your weight loss so far! Keep telling yourself this time will be different. You can't fail if you don't quit! Good Luck

Welcome Vacasgirl! 12 pounds is a great first step.

For someone who loves food as much as I do (which I'm sure you can relate to) the smartest thing I ever did was find new foods that I loved as much as the old ones I had to give up. Feeling deprived of my favorite foods, especially in stressful times, was often too much for me. But now I have new comfort foods that I can eat when I'm upset, even in pretty large quantities, and not worry too much about whether I'm going to gain weight or not. If you like to cook, I cannot suggest enough the Cooking Light magazine and website. Almost every dish that I really loved, I have found a low calorie or low carb version of it that I think tastes just as good and fits into my new lifestyle.

We're glad you're here. And this will be your last attempt. Because you are going to do this and lose what you need to and keep it off. :)

Hi, I'm new too. Congrats vascagirl on your initial success. I hope you got the right diet, not the starving ones since I had bad experience with this kind of diet. It will help you lose weight fast initially but you will gain weight faster later on.
Good luck!

Hey and welcome to the forum!

Take a look around, there is plenty of info posted that can help you make those positive lifestyle changes. One of the most helpful tools is to have a journal of everything that you eat, your emotions surrounding the foods that you eat, especially your comfort foods, and the exercise that you do. You can start one in the Weight Loss Diary section, or you can have a journal at home that you write in if you prefer to keep it private :)

Good luck and keep us posted on your progress!
