Hello,
My name is brit and I'm 23. I've been very happy in love for almost two years now, and I feel like my body is showing my lack of restraint! I havent gained more than 15lbs over the course of these two years but, I plan on loosing much more than that as I've always felt thicker than I needed to be.

I'm 5'9" and 167. I need to lose at least 30lbs... but I would actually enjoy any thoughts on what a goal should be for my height- I know there are multiple factors, but just based on what you each have gone through...

is 30lbs a weak goal weight? should I strive for more?
(i'd like to knock at least three inches(wishfully five) off my waist and hips at the very least
5'9" 34dd-30-40)

any info would be greatfully appreciated.

I don't think anyone is going to give you a good answer. Frankly, they can't. And shouldn't.

30 lbs lost looks completely different from person to person.

To boot, this lifestyle is an ongoing process, which I'm sure you're aware of. That in mind, the process isn't about yielding weight loss. It's about looking and feeling good. Right?

I mean, if you lose weight, yet look like and feel like hell, that weight loss doesn't matter all that much.

Vice versa, if you reach a point where you look and feel great (which will be individual) yet the weight doesn't budge much... that's pretty good, right?

Point: Put most of your weighting on how you look and feel. This sort of focus will serve you much better.

Best to you.

i totally agree... however most of my lurking here has concluded that people choose a goal weight to work towards... and i've been having trouble determining the best way to choose one. i know in my own life, whether i feel good and healthy about myself varies day to day, if i splurge or totally skip my workouts for a week. just asking for advice from people on how they chose their own personal goals... sorry for being unclear.

I think the tickers make this so. But I still wouldn't buy into the whole concept. And if you do, I certainly wouldn't fret over it. Anyone with common sense around here will be quick to explain that their goal weight is a moving target.

As they progress, they'll tweak their goal.

It's simply another way of moving toward something. Thirty pounds is fine. One way of doing it is to determine how much weight you can realistically lose each week. 1% of your weight per week is a decent estimate. I'd actually bump it to .5% per week if I wanted to play the conservative route.

But again, it's silly to fret about what this number since it means absolutely nothing.

You weren't being unclear.

I understood your question then as I do now.
