Hi Everyone!

This is my first post and I wanted to introduce myself. My real name is Paula, and I live in GA. My mom was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer in June 2006. In Aug 2006 I went to a class on weight loss, health and nutrition, and have been learning as much as I can on the subject ever since. I do not want my life cut short like hers was. I would like to meet other people interested in the same things that I am, and make friends.

Thanks for the reply. I have already been working out, so I have lost some weight, but I have 2o more lbs to go, and those seem to be the hardest! I havent lost a size in months, and I work out alot! I am a member of a gym here, and I mainly do the classes, pump (weights) and step for my cardio. I think I need to be doing the machines to target certain areas, however, I am self conscience being out on the floor with the men! I feel like they are looking up my shorts and starring at my boobs. :blush5:

lmao Paula .. I am sure when they see a lovely woman, they look, but don't let it stop you from going hun!
keep it up ...
The last twenty pounds are usually hard to lose, there are a lot of women on here, losing their last twenty pounds and find it difficult. This is a great place for support. You may want to start a diary if you plan on making friends ..

I shall stop by your diary when you make one

I read around the forum and it is said that if you increase your calorie intake you should lose. I guess your body gets used to your calorie intake. Use the calculator in the forum, it will tell you how much you should consume with your new weight.

good luck

Howdy!

Thanks for the replies, I am starting to feel at home! I havent had a lot of time to surf around this forum, I have one of those crappy job things that take up way too much of my time! I really would like to ditch that darn thing!

For the reply about the southerner, yes I am, and I am proud of it! We are a different breed I guess, most are very friendly. My cousin moved here from Erie, PA and she just couldnt believe how nice people are here. I have even caught her saying 'ya'll" and other southern slangs. I have to harrass her about that. I live about 30 miles north of Atlanta in Woodstock, GA. It is growing so much so fast here, new construction everywhere you look, constantly widening the roads. It is very busy here, and the traffic is a joke, you have to plan your day around traffic.

And thanks for the tips on calories, I really dont count them right now, but I know that I need to. I eat pretty good, no junk food, mainly fruits, veggies, and a little bit of chicken.. I know I probably dont get enough protein, I dont eat very much meat, I tend to get grossed out about it. Mainly for protein I will drink a protein shake, and maybe some egg whites.
