How to lose 120 pounds at Walt Disney World (Jericho's Journey)

Well folks, here we go again. Almost all of you know me as that rude mod with a loud mouth but I have a soft sensitive side (and it covers me all around..mainly the soft part).

But not all of you do know me so let's start this as if you don't.

I go by Jericho but my first name is Kenneth (Ken please) and I'm engaged to my lovely Amy. I'm 36, 6'3" and currently 372. I started this whole deal at a bit more than 400 and was doing well in my weight loss before the floor fell out from under me. I was working under a yearly contract for a company but after being sick last December, they released me. I've been unemployed since. That sort of thing really puts a dagger in plans. Amy was doing adjuct teaching (teaching where she could get classes) and with my unemployment we was ok but sinking fast. The house she owned was going into foreclosure and things was just a mess.

That's when we made the choice. We (including her father) had wanted to move to Florida for a while so together we decided to make the leap. Amy found some classes down in Orlando (she is on an interview right now for some more). I haven't found any..yet but the chances to find work is much greater here than in the dying area of South Carolina we was in. My folks was going to take us all to Hawaii but for us, gave us the cash instead. We found this absolutely perfect home in Winter Park (I'll get some pictures up soon enough). Her dad will be coming down soon and most important, she and I got us annual passes to Disney world.

Why is that important?

Well, just the fact that I am a die hard major Disney nut..that, my friends, is my gym membership. Think about it! You could walk around a high school track or around the block OR you could walk around the Magic Kingdom or Epcot! The heat is starting to die down. I plan to go least 3 times a week to a different park to do least one walking loop (then I can go on some rides or shows!). The key will also be watching my calorie intake (no buying food in park on walking days! Others times we go, watch what I do). I will say when we moved in, I was at 380 so I'm doing something right at the moment!

You have to be in the right mental space to lose weight. I think after losing my job, that is where I wasn't. I'm surprised I didn't regain all that weight I loss. It's not perfect. I still don't have a job yet (still aiming to return to Disney to work) but it will happen. This home we are renting is perfect for us. We love it so much. I feel closer to Amy and simply put, I'm happy now to make sure I extend my life so we can stay happy.

So, I'll keep updating this with at the least weekly weigh ins, goals, and stories (with pictures of course) I have a story about something that happened to me last night at Disney Hollywood studios..but will save that for later on.

Oh..goal. Ok. Let's aim for under 370 by next week. That should happen

Good luck with your weight loss! I think losing weight while doing what you love is the best way ever. Be strong, and keep us updated!

Ok, so here is my story the other night that I promised to write.

Amy and I was over at Hollywood studios in the evening. It was hot so we went to the ABC place (never remember the name there for some reason) to get a coke zero. It was crowded so I told Amy to get us a seat. While waiting, this mother, father and daughter of about 16 was in front of me. At one point, the daughter held her map towards her face as if you block it and told her folks it might be taking so long cause 'asians don't speak Engilsh well' referencing the lady ahead of her. I was shocked and I thought maybe the lady did hear her. I wasn't sure.

After the lady ordered, she turned back to the girl and said something, showing she did indeed hear. The girl walked backwards towards me and was giggling. When she moved close to me, I couldn't help it. I told her to move on back in front cause I didn't want her near me. It was an ugly and racist thing she said and she should be embarrassed. She went sort of pale and walked off. Her parents said nothing. A bit later, another member of their party came over and asked the folks what was wrong with her. The parents said nothing at all, trying to blow it off. I didn't. I went ahead and told the other woman (maybe aunt) what the girl said and that she should be ashamed. That's when the mother finally said something to me. She told me I should have something to her instead of calling out her daughter. I told her why didn't she say something in the first place. She didn't say anything after that.

Part of me was worried I went too far, then I realized maybe this girl will think twice about doing something like that.

Wow, I wish I could power walk around Disney! That would be amazing. I hope to go there someday. You've got all the makings of success Jericho, you can do this!

Also, I don't think what you did was rude. I tend to be rather blunt about things I think are rude. So I'd totally back you up on that!

AThis girl and her parents should be ashamed. You did the right thing. Since her parents didn't step up and say something.....someone had to. Hopefully what you said sticks with her.

AI believe that if someone is being ignorant you have not only a right, but a duty to tell them how ignorant they are in some way. I hate people who openly judge others based on stupid stereotypes. I wish people would use their brains once in awhile.
