How to find motivation?

Hi,
I have been going to the gym for about 2 months now.
At the beginning it was very exciting, I even found a trainer that helped me a lot. I started with the machines and now I am using mainly the dumb bells.

Unfortunately, after over 2 months, I got fed up. Suddenly, out of no where, I feel sick just by walking into the gym, and if I do it, I can't wait to go thru all the exercises and go home.
I am trying to figure out what's going on.
Part of me still wants to go to the gym, because in two months I have built muscles and I sort of feel proud of myself, but another part of me tells me that it's a waste of time and that if I am not enjoying it anymore, then I should just give up.

Sad but true, I've also gained weight since I started going to the gym. I was 169 lbs when I started, and in 2 months I gained 9 lbs. I am sure I have not built 9lbs of muscles, but the reason is because I am more hungry, that's probably because I am using more energy from my body, and I find myself eating twice what I used to eat before joining the gym.

Can anyone give me some suggestion about how to find motivation and what to do about the food problem?
I haven't been going to the gym for only 4 days, but I already feel as if I gave up.

Thanks in advance.
Ciao!
Luigi

There acouple things that keep me motivated. Compliments usually tell me I'm on the right track.

1. Set goals, that way you can measure progress. Record your starting point (take a picture of yourself, weigh yourself, break out the measuring tape [only measure the muscles you go in the gym to work]) Don't look at your starting picture for 3 months.

2. Post pictures of bodies your aiming to look like around your pad. Try to stay within reason. No need to have Jay Cutler or Ronnie Coleman and such on your wall.

3. Change your routine, this applies to almost anything. You could even rearrange your appartment/house.Get some new workout clothes. If your gym has branches, go to a different one

4. Competition is my favorite. Find someone relatively close to your build and try to progress faster than them. I thrive off competition.

These are things that I do to stay motivated. I'm sure others on here can add to this list. Best of luck man. Keep a positive attitude.
