How often should I weigh myself?

It's depressing to weigh myself every day, especially if I worked my butt off and gained a pound. How often should I weigh myself to get a realistic view of my progress?

I just wasn't sure if I should wait longer than that to get an accurate account of my weightloss. I know the female hormone cycle can fluxuate a woman's weight, so that alone can make you gain weight for a whole week, and lose it the other three weeks of the month. I guess I'll try to stick with weekly, though. Thanks for your responses.

I weigh myself once a week but I don't worry about it if I weigh more here and there. I worry more about how my clothes fit.

Definitely stop doing that every day! Weight does fluctuate, could be due to water weight, food you currently have in your gut, hormones, etc. Once every 2 weeks is good.
Even if you don't lose weight for a week or two, if you are doing all the right things, don't worry about it. Could be that you are turning fat into muscle. Muscle weighs more, so you might hit a weight platue, but in the long run that muscle will burn more calories and you'll continue to get into better shape.

I'd weigh myself once every few weeks. Weight is a useless number for the most part. Knowing your body fat % is a far better estimate of how much fat you have.

I would also recommend that if you are affected by what the scale says i.e. mood etc. then I would not way myself that frequently. If you notice each time you weigh yourself and the scale says more than you want and you get depressed then it is not worth weighing yourself. Either gauge your workouts by how you feel, how your clothes fit, your energy. The scale is a very powerful thing and is very influential on your sense of self and mood. IF you are not affected by what the scale says then ignore this posting!! :)
