How much to burn to loose weight?

So the other day I got one of those elliptical trainer dealies. The instructions say your should warm up by stretching and stuff. So I start using it and I use it for about 25 minutes and it says I've burned 155 calories. Is that enough to burn in a day to lose weight? Seems little to me but I'm not well educated on loosing weight.

You need a daily deficit of 500 calories to lose 1 lb a week.. half of that can come from food, half can come from exercise..
