how much excercise is needed

Ya'll know im around 15-16 years old, I run a mile sometimes more depends on how the weather is outside. Is that enough or should I do more? When I run on my Tony Little Gazelle Excercise thing I run like almost 3 miles but it doesnt seem like anything to me its soo different and also doesnt seem like it has done anything for me that day. But anyways am i excercising enough?

well how tired are you after you do that, cause im freakish for my size and i can run like 10 miles no problem(at least i think its in miles cant tell on the treadmill cause it just says numbers no units) but i usually go until either my feet hurt allot, or i cant run any more, but i like to push my self while running so i usually go for over 30 mins.

Oh i also need to ask right after you eat breakfast like, I just had 2 bowls of Special K cereal because i didnt want any eggs. Should i have to excercise right after because if i dont excercise im just gonna sit around till around 2 something then i'll go and excercise..will that food all store as fat even though there was 0 fat grams but 3 grams of sugar?

probally not if your keeping active, foods dont go straight to fat, unless your metabolism is super slow, but if you can you should go for a little jog or something, will get your metabolism going even more for the day.

holy crap you run 10 miles!! When i go outside and run a mile or 2 i go up hills and everything and im freakin draggin and it dont help its still a little bit cold outside. On the gazelle thing the most i ran on it was 4.5 miles i dont like running on it because it feels like its doing nothing for me.

I've seen the Gazelle on TV...wanted it, too :p

From what I've seen from the infomercials, it's very affective, but like ALL things, results are NOT immediete. If you feel the burn, then you know it's doing something, if not...then increase what you're doing on it by maybe 5 minutes.

yeah your not really lifting anything your just letting the momentum carry your legs, thats what i never really under stood about that thing. yeah i was forced into this condition, by football, my coach made us run so much and every other day we did conditioning, like running for 12 minutes straight, no break. then the worst of all "gasers" a 100m sprint then a 20 second break then do it 9 more times, gets you in shape fast especially when you do the 100m under 20seconds and you have to do another one.

when i played softball we only ran for 10 minutes straight but this year im not playing softball but im sure i am running more than i did in softball

Softball killed me....*stabs self* I hated every minute of it. One thing: I am (and never was) very athletic, and the only real reason why I was even doing it was because I needed a sort of exercise schedule (this being last summer). Another eason why I hated it was because I was working 3 days a week, 11 hour days at an office (twelve, since I got up at 5, and got home at five). And two 1 and a half hour practices (we had three a week) were only an hour after my work ended. And it was really a big mess and I think I actually gained more weight from stress than I would like to believe. And the coach didn't let us rehydrate enough...(it was june when we started training...and it's HOT in the summer, here down south).

So I had a bad experience with softball.....

Annnyways,

yeah but its also the running right after a 2 and a half hour practice.

*dies* That's good though...for you! I personally couldn't do that, even if I wanted to, and believe it or not, that's good encouragement. :)

When it starts to get warmer outside and right after i run what else should i do? i cant really play basketball because i get soo PISSED when the ball hits the concrete side and rolls like 2 miles away from me lol should i just ride my bike around or what would you guys have in mind?

oh i had to have a engery bar before each practice at the beginning just to make it to the end but my stamina increased so much so fast from that, all i need was water, which some times the coaches forgot that running makes you thirsty and wouldnt let us get water.

I would get some energy bars...minus the fact that they make stuff like that rather expensive.

Basketball is fun, maybe if you have some friends you could play tag (or flag) football? That's a lot of fun.

Riding your bike is another good activity...I used to ride my bike everyday before I was homeschooled, and then walk to school (about a mile round trip) everyday (that was when I was thin...). Being homeschooled though has really cut back on my activity...

There are lots of fun activities you can do, swimming (I looove swimming), biking, walking trails, horseback riding, running, basketball, mountain climbing, and lots of other stuff :)

Sports that burn calories the quickest over a short period of time IE 40 min. (highest to lowest): Jogging, Scuba Diving, Stair Climbing, Basketball, Jumping Rope, Tennis, Volleyball, Boxing, Swimming, Cycling, Frisbee, Golf, Softball.

from my nutrition pdf

oh yea what KIND of engery bar could i eat gimme some lists of the good kinds i used to eat the snickers engery bars but they made me feel like i had to take a crap the whole time during my softball practice lol thats a lil embrassing oh well

There are indoor pools...I don't know where, but I know they exist, also when it gets warm, go to a public pool with some friends, you don't really have to do any exercises, just swim and have fun :) Also, if there is a lake nearby that'd be cool, or even the ocean, if you live near enough to the beach :)

i love the ocean swimming in it is the best, to bad the beach i moved to is a shipping inlet, have to drive for a bit to get to the good one.

I grew up by two beaches (dad was in the military, so we lived in California then moved to virginia), and I adored going to the beach. But now we live 5 or 6 hours from the nearest beach, and we just took out our (very small) pool, because we didn't use it as much as we used to. So now it's either a) lake, b) public swimming pool.
