How much cardio should i be doing like running to lose weight i use to be 270 got down to 215 but im stuck at it. Question is im just basicly working out some gaining muscle mass so that coudl be why im still at 215 and not dropping. But i think its just im not doing enough cardio so id like to know how much cardio should i be doing and for how many days in a row?
It's difficult to assess the reason for your fat loss plateau given the information you've given. Plateaus can be caused by several factors:
- your metabolism has downregulated due to your extended caloric restriction (calorie deficit).
- your overall weight loss has decreased your TDEE value, so the same calorie intake is now yielding a lower caloric deficit.
- your energy expentidure from exercise has decreased due to your body gaining efficiencies at your workout routine.
We would need to know more about your routine (with regards to diet, exercise, and for how long, etc.) to better know what may be causing your plateau.
I wouldn't even discuss the "types" of cardio at this point either, not knowing your level of conditioning. Each type of cardio has it's use at different times, based on everything else that's going on in your weight loss plan.
Also, you may not even be at a real plateau, depending on how long you've been stuck. If you're talking a few weeks, then that's not a long enough period of time, because water weight can "mask" fat loss for several weeks. If you've been stuck for several months, then something needs tweaking.
Can you post your RMR, TDEE values, how much caloric deficit you've been hitting in your diet, how long you've been at it, and your typical workout routine (weights and cardio) and how long (weeks/months) you've been doing it for?
Maybe then you can get some good feedback.
