How many calories?

Hi there,

I have a friend whom I'm trying to help lose weight. She currently weighs 124kg. She is 168cm tall. How do I calculate how many calories she should eat per day? She does a 45 minute walk each day.

I've got a calorie calculator on my website in Weight Loss if you want to have a look. Anyone can determine their daily calorie intake needs depending on their weight and activity levels and goals and so on.
So I hope it helps.
 
Or this , from an unaffiliated website. You'll basically be figuring out your metabolic rate at rest, and then using a multiplier (depending on your perceived activity level) to get the amount of calories you need.

I highlighted an important part...all those BMR calculators give you a Basal Metabolic Rate...which is calories burned at rest.

activity multipliers are used to figure in daily activity, i.e. 'seated work', 'heavy manual labor' etc.

If you go with BMR only, you end up undereating, often by enough to stunt fat loss (the body thinks its starving)
