My exercise routine has been “on hold” somewhat for a few weeks while my heart rate monitor has been halfway across the country being fixed. I’ve still been exercising, but not all-out. Yesterday I got the monitor back and exercised for one hour using it.
The results of the session were:
Average HR 168
Maximum HR: 182
HR between 75-91% of my MHR. It was mainly around 82%, but peaked at 90 % twice. Today’s training session was similar, although I only trained for 40 minutes.
Basically, I was wondering whether it’s OK to work at such an intense level for an hour? I do get very tired and really perspire during the session. It takes me around ten minutes to recover following this. For the rest of the day I feel OK though, not particularly exhausted.
So would you say training up to 90% on a daily basis is too much? Or is it OK so long as I feel it’s OK? I find it manageable, but very exhausting at the time. But I don’t want to do myself any damage by overtraining.
