How healthy are Burrito Bols from Chipotle in the scheme of dieting/eating healthy?

Hello everyone!

so I've been eating around 600-800 calories a day but have decided I need to bump them up a load. (260 pounds 5'7-5'8, female)

I work out daily or at least try to and mostly I've been eating fruit, subway, and salads.

I wanted to know how healthy a chicken burito bol from chipotle would be if i incorporated it into my diet by replacing a footlong with it and also lowering other calories through out the day.

It's delicious and filling. I always get a burrito bol with chicken, rice, black beans, mild sauce (tomatoes), fajitas, lettuce, and cheese. I don't get any sour cream or guacamole.

Is this acceptable? Would it still help me lose weight? or is it not a healthy choice?

Wow your calorie intake seems a bit low to me...
I started off at 210 when i started to lose the weight and i was eating in and around 1200-1300 cal/day (even then its still a bit low) and still managed to lose weight. You may want to consider increasing it just a bit....

I eat at burrito places all the time (mucho burrito being my favorite)
A healthy option is to opt for the whole wheat 12" tortilla, instead of rice, get black beans and pinto beans (load up on the veggies) and lean chicken...salsa is great as well!
I find it to be a healthier option in the fast food industry

Hope this helps :)

Hi Brazilian,

I agree with Dior, your calorie intake is very low. At that height o would imagine you would need a minimum of 1500 to lose weight and not shut down you metabolism. Also im pretty sure that most women should not really eat less than 1200 a day. You won't be able to maintain any weight loss you have eating that little.

Anyway, I'm doing weight watchers but I actually had a Burrito Bowl from Chipotle last night. I got rice, sautéed veggies, black beans, pico de gallo, a little bit of corn, lettuce, and I asked them for just a little bit of cheese. I would say that it is an overall heathy, filling meal but they give you a lot food so I only ate half and saved the rest for another time. It's also a really great meal to eat after a hard workout to get a lot of protein!

Yep... I would absolutely incorporate that and similar meals in your diet. While the 1200 rule sounds pretty tough, I'm completely for it. If you load your body up with 'good' fuel, it will absolutely reward you. By eating so few calories, you are telling your body that you're in a 'rough' time. So your body will begin burning fewer calories by shutting down unessential parts of your system. Your heart will beat slower, you will feel sluggish, your muscles will only work in an isolated way, so that when you move your arm, you instinctively will put the least amount of effort into it. Eat more! Your body deserves it!

As for the burrito bowl itself, it sounds amazing. Good food, low fat, lots of veggies, with enough carbs (I'd keep the rice) to keep you going. I would try to add at least 400 calories to your daily input, and make sure that you are absolutely eating it every single day. Sometimes, eating more really can make you weigh less!
