How does everyone stay motivated?

Hi everyone! I am a not-so-new mom. My baby is 15 mos old and I weigh exactly the same now as I did when I went back to work over a year ago. I can start pretty strong, (Weight Watchers is my diet of choice), I lose 4 pounds, then fall off the wagon. This has been my cycle for the past year. Any motivation tips would be greatly appreciated!

Hi 2BFIT!!

At the very beginning I bought jeans in a size 4, which is the size I was when I was 18% body fat. Every time I slack off, and it has happened quite a few times, I try the pair of denims on. So far they're getting half-way up my thighs :D

Good luck!

I look at a picture of when I was 18. I was in the best physical of my life. Then I look in the mirror.

Hey

Every time I feel the craving for something which I know isn't good for me I just start humming my favorite song. See if it works for you. Singing through the whole song keeps me from eating and I have less of a craving when I'm done.

i bought a top that id like to fit into hung it up by the mirror. i look at pics of me at my heaviest.. i wrote notes to myself and put them on the fridge saying " are you even hungry? remember your goal!, etc"

After i gave birth, i had 20 kilos more then i should but i thought i was slim because i was huge while pregnant.2 months after i gave birth, a friend took a picture of me and, when i saw it,i had a shock.I was huge! That picture kept me motivated and i managed to lose all the extra weight, so i'd say fear was my main motivation. Now, my daugher is 8 y.o. and i have the same weight ( 62 kilos, 170 cm )....I still keep that picture :)

My motivation for getting back in shape after my first daughter was a date circled on the calendar. June 15th. That was the day my husband got back from his deployment. each month I had a number written on the 15th telling me how many more months I had. Watching that number go down each month sure pushed me to get down to the gym. and since the calendar was on our fridge, it kept me from sneaking that extra bit of icecream. So I guess I just used a countdown. Set a specific date and stick to it. This time around my date is October 1st. so the first of the month is going to be my countdown day. it worked for me last time at least.

I keep a picture of my when I was skinny and a picture when I was my heaviest taped to my desk where I have to look at them all day long. It is great motivation to see the difference side by side everytime I look down. It keeps me out of the office candy dishes!:)

my motivation

Hi,
I am new to this site but not new to dieting. I am not exactly a new mom, my baby is 22 mo. old and I am still struggling with the weight I put on while pregnant.
Seeing how much I gained with my first pregnancy (60 lbs or so and started overweight also) I promised myself that I will not go into another pregnancy overweight. It is not good for me and it is not good for the baby. And I really want to have another baby. I gave myself ample time ( probably another year) to get to my goal weight. Then all I have to do from there is eat sensibly trough my pregnancy that i totally ignored with the first one.!!!

For me it is pictures and video (especially now with HD cameras) taken at holidays. Now that my sons first birthday is coming up I'm working even harder!

I go eye shopping in my favorite stores that do not cater to anything over a 14 and I try things on in the size i would like to be as a short term goal it works for me.I just tell myself if I lose then I can buy it for myself.

In , I just shared my ways to motivate myself. My youngest is now 23 months old and I've just recently faced the reality that I must motivate myself on a daily basis. It's a tough line to keep everything in order. But I try to regularly. It helps to also visit the forums and get extra support.

Take care,

Cindy

Just go to a mirror and imagine yourself at the weight you want to be. If you are craving a Pizza, then imagine that by NOT ordering it you are saving $12.99 and 2 pounds of fat in your body.

I find that when I try on clothes that are too small, on purpose or not, I get really discouraged and feel like giving up even more.
A few weeks ago I had a meltdown in Walmart when my fiance and I went to find me some new jeans.
The plus sizes were too big and the regular sizes were too small.
I started crying in the middle of the store and told him I should just give up because I'll never lose the baby weight(I gained 80lbs while pregnant, yikes!)

Then...his ex-girlfriend moved to town and she has lost a ton of weight. I'm pretty sure it was in a totally unhealthy way because it came off really fast, but regardless, that was all the motivation I needed lol!
Not that there's any risk of my fiance wanting her back or anything, but having that competition in my own mind has kicked my butt into gear and I'm dropping lbs left right and centre.

I try the count down thing but what keeps me going is sheer smugness of being the "healthy chick" in the office. I know it may seem shallow but everyone around me expects me to crack and eat the donuts and keylime pies and all that other stuff they bring in weekly.
It keeps me going knowing that I have the will power.

I just put pictures of Beyonce in my wallet and my car. I love beyonce's body and I would love to be that size. Seeing her lets me know that she also has to excerise and eat right to maintain that body! Its very encouraging!

I want to show my daughter how to look after her body, and if I get into good habits now, then it will be easier to lead by example when she's older.

My biggest motivation at the moment is seeing those numbers go down. When I see I've lost a kg I can't believe that I actually did it and I want to lose more.

I'm jealous whenever I see those skinny mum's pushing the prams around town. I want to be a skinny mum!

I'm motivated to fit into my wedding dress.
