How do you not check the scale every day?

I've gotten into a habit of weighing in every single day. And I hate it but can't seem to stop. I want to weigh in every 90 days, but stuck on every day right now.

Any suggestions of how not to check the scale so much?

Get the scale out of your house, or at least out of sight. Tuck it away high up on a shelf in the closet or get rid of it entirely or keep it at a friend's house. The scale I use is at my parent's house so if I want to check my weight I have to go out of my way to do it. Make it difficult for yourself and it will be easier to avoid.

Do you have kids in your house? If so then have them hide the scale after each official weigh in. Then you can expend a bunch of calories looking for it.

Why do you hate it? I weigh myself every day. It doesn't hurt anything as long as you understand what the scale is telling you. It will jump around from day to day. You are just looking for the trend.

Every 90 days doesn't seem near frequent enough to give you the feedback you need to tell if your diet is working.

I also weigh every day... I just could not imagine going to the loo in the morning and not hopping on the scale!

Maybe I'm lucky 'cos over the past three months I've only gone up on about five occasions... and I had a logical explanation for each of them... plus when I hit a plateau then I knew that I had to step things up a notch...

Waiting days, weeks or even months between weighing would demotivate me!

What is the reason for wanting to have such large periods between your weighing?

I weigh every week. I think this is the 'best' way to do it in my opinion haha. My scale is right in my bathroom in plain sight right where I would use it. It sometimes is tempting to weigh in more often but I just tell myself it would be so much better to wait and be down a bigger number than to weigh in now and only have maybe lost a bit.

I would also not wait SO long (90 days) between weigh ins as you don't know if what you are doing is working or if you could change something to lose faster...

It's in my in-law's house. My wife and I are rebuilding a house from the 19th century on the farm, so we loan the kitchen at her parents. After washing the dishes I have to run to the bathroom (Water ion the hands). I can't help myself to pull it out and check, every day. It sucks because when we move, I have another scale for our bathroom (A christmas gift from last year).

I don't like checking so often due to the rapid up and downs. Like a 5lb difference in a day. :(

well, every 90 dys seems rather extreme to me. I think you'd want to do a monthly weight if nothing else. Maybe if your stuck in the habit of every day weigh ins...maybe start to only weigh in, every other day, and after a while, every third day..ect. Just remind yourself on days that your not goign to weigh in, that your weight couldnt' have changed THAT MUCH over night..your scale will be there tomorrow and you can weigh in then.

90 days is time enough to put on a LOAD of weight lol... when I reach the weight I want to I still intend to weigh weekly, or else it will just creep back up like it has before.

That said, I am fighting the urge to jump on every morning myself... so know what you mean. Personally I am trying to stick to twice weekly :)

As people have said you don't need to stop checking the scale, you need to stop being bothered by what it says!

I used to check 3 times a day at my worst, wake up, work out, and bed... I would have 5lb differences from morning to night and I only weighed 170! You need to understand it, eating through out the day, drinking before and after workouts and expelling waste unless you're VERY regular will all alter your weight!
