How do you know how many calories are in your homemade meals?

I am making firecracker shrimp for supper tonight and it's homemade so I don't know how many calories are in it or how you're supposed to figure it out. Do I just add all the calories together from the ingredients and then divide it into servings to know how many calories I've taken in?

Yupp, that's pretty much exactly what you do. Add up the calories from all the ingredients, then divide it by portions, or, if you want to be super-exact, weigh the whole dish, then weigh your portion. Make sure not to forget stuff like cooking oil etc that you might use, it does add calories (and I forget to take that into account on a regular basis).
