How do you do, and shake hands. . .

Hallo one and all, my name is Brittany and I'm the new kid for the next five minutes.

I don't really know much to say, other than I'm tired of blatantly telling people that I am fat and to get the "No no, you aren't fat, why do you put yourself down?" Well, I'm not putting myself 'down', I'm being blunt, honest, and obvious. I am 190 pounds, and I'm not the heaviest gal in the clubhouse, but I'm only 4'10". My 'healthy' weight is between 90 pounds and 120 pounds.

I'd be satisfied with 140, at this point.

Alright, that was really just a vent that I apologize for.

I'm here to make a few friends, hear a few stories, learn a few tips, and ultimately find a few buddies I can band together with and keep each other on track.

welcome to the site.. have fun while you're here... and learn a lot... :D

there's a club that caters to you - -horizontally challenged folks :)

I thought that was vertically challenged? :biggrinjester:

Welcome, britsmarie!

I think the 'no you aren't fat' response is an automatic response for a lot of people that don't know how to deal with telling people the truth. I've been thinking about that one a lot lately. I'm thinking next time somebody I knows utters the 'I'm overweight' comment, I'm going to respond with 'so what are you doing about it?' rather than agreeing or disagreeing.

I guess 'being there' has changed my perceptions a bit.:biggrinjester:

I hope you enjoy this place, I have found it helpful. Wish I had found it earlier this year.

Thank you, Phoenyx and Maleficent!

Well, I am vertically challenged, but I am certainly not horizontally challenged! Ahaha. I'm horizontally gifted, in that right. One of the little people, yet the wide folk. (High school joke.)

I get angry when people tell me I'm not fat, mainly because I'm seriously overweight and I want to change that, and its usually my skinny friends who think I'm just the way I'm always going to be, and all my overweight friends are convinced that 'once fat, always fat'. And I know that certainly isn't the case; its just hard to lose it once it catches on.

Btw, Phoenyx, I have typed your name with an i instead of a y several times now in trying to type it-- As I just moved to Phoenix, AZ. :)

Heh... no worries. It happens a lot. :willy_nilly:

Phoenix is a neat city. At least it was last time I visited over 10 years ago. Gotta get back out there someday.

Ah well, maybe I'll be able to catch the race out there at PIR sometime.

Another thing I've noticed when people tell you you "aren't fat" is sometimes this comes from somebody who has a lot of general insecurities about themselves, and trying to convince you that you don't need to improve keeps you at a level where they can consider themselves superior. Your skinny friends... they need to watch it because if they don't keep an eye on what they eat, and don't exercise... they'll become your chunky friends eventually.

And 'once fat, always fat?' That's a heaping pile of bullshit. Invite your friends that think this way to look through some of the threads on this forum... there are some very stunning transformations on here. I consider them major inspiration for people looking to change their lives.

I've already seen some! I have to say, getting on here last night inspired me to start watching my calories this morning. I'm going to stay somewhere around 1500 --- I don't eat alot anyway, which is why I haven't gained a pound since I was 13.

My fiance has agreed to start going on 45 minute daily walks, and in a few weeks we'll make them bi-daily.

He wants to start excersizing (he's 5'11", and weighs 170 on a bad day, so really he just wants to tone and not lose any.)

Oh dear! I'm watching the boys play Soul Calibur legends for the Wii. Oh how we love our video games.

I wonder, if when people read how I type, if they really know I'm barely 19 years old. . .
