How do i calculate calories lost for weight lifting?

Truth is - I don't bother (I also don't know!). Although you'll get some calorie burn, it's better not to try because it might encourage you to eat more.

Also, the bigger benefit from lifting isn't in calories burned, it's in keeping you from losing muscle while you're dieting.

I'll go along with Jeanette on that. In fact, I don't count the calories burned during cardio exercise either. I just do about the same amount of exercise each day, track my weight, and observe how food calories affect weight loss or gain, as the case may be.

I looked it up and they have varying amounts. My guess if your a man over 200lbs and you work out hard with no more than 1 minute rest between sets you would burn 500-600 calories and hour. The real benefit of weights is that muscle requires more calories to maintain. As you build muscle your BMR goes up.

I agree with Harold and Jeannette mentioned above.

But, I am wondering why you want to know how many calories you burn during weight lifting?
